31 Weeks 1cm Dilated And 70 Effaced

I'm 31 weeks and 2 days, went into L & D cause I just didnt feel right. My dr. came in checked me said I was 1cm & 70% effaced. Keep me in the L & D gave me 2 steriod shots to mature babys lungs faster. They said that just a few contractions nothing to worrie about that was not normal. Sent me home on pelvix rest, and nurse said "bed rest"... Appointment in 1 weeks to do U/S and to check cervial lenght. Anyone know anything about what that is? And this is my first child. Does anyone know what to expect from all this? Or has anyone ever delievered early? ect? Anything. Any awsners. or maybe's?

My friend just delivered her 1st baby at 32 weeks. Her baby had a mild infection (so did mom) Baby was 5lb 9 and went home after 2.5weeks. She is OK, feeding well and has strong lungs. Take it easy, try not to worry- we will all be thinking positive for you!
