Ca__sie-You lucky girl you! I wish I was in your position.

Last Week when i went to the drs i was 2 cm dialated, and the midwife said that there was still quite a bit of thickness there. She also said that she could feel the top of the babies head. It's not fair that they can feel that before we can. My midwife told me that she didn't think that i would go before my due date of december 7th, but that it was possible. This is crazy, with it being my first in all. I go back to the drs again tonight for another non stress test and a regular checkup. Yippee for me !!

I am 37 weeks, 80% effaced, and 2 cm dialated. I've lost my mucuous plug, having back pain, and cramping. Here's to hoping I go early!

Im 38 weeks today at 130am i felt water leaking out with no contractions. i called the hospital they said that i was fine and that this could happen for awhile.im just hoping that i get contractions to let me know that im ready because the water breaking is usually a sure sign that labor has begun.

Ca__sie - November 17

I thought that once your water breaks, you should go to the hospital regardless...? Joanna, sounds like you're progressing well. I'm right with you except a little less effaced. Exciting stuff!

I just had an appointment with my midwife today and I am 50% effaced and 1cm dilated at 34.5 weeks! My due date is Jan 1st but I don't think we are going to make it that long! I have another appoinment Monday to see if I have progressed or not. Here's hoping I have!

How come everyone knows how much they are effaced and dilated? Especially at 34 weeks? I'm 37 weeks and my doc has only checked me once when she was doing strep B test...and that was almost 2 weeks ago, and since then she hasn't been checking me or anything!

Every doctor is different. You would think that in cases like that they wouldn't be. I guess some feel that if they tell you that you have progressed that you would become too anxious and in some cases I heard it could delay labor. Being dilated doesnt mean you will go into labor soon but it would be nice to know every week if you have progressed any further. And not being dilated doesn't mean you won't go into labor soon. I know a lady who was checked one day with nothing and had the baby the next day and then I have heard cases where the woman was dilated to like 3 or 4 and was that way for weeks. I started being checked at 37 weeks. A friend of mine was never checked until her due date.

My midwife checked me today because I have had a couple days where there was a mucousy pink discharge so she wanted to see what was going on. Normally she told me that the first check would come at 36 weeks and then weekly.

L - November 24

I have been 50% and 1cm since 34 weeks and I'm now 38 weeks. It's progress, but doesn't mean much.

Selena why on earth would you hope for change? You want your baby to be premature? You should be hoping for no change!

bg - November 24

at 38 weeks your full term baby would not be premature my first baby was born at 27 weeks so from 38 weeks that is fine my freind had a baby at 35 weeks and was allowed home but that all depends

To L - November 24

I am measuring a couple of weeks ahead and the dates have been moved around a few times based on ultrasound measurements. According to my last menstraul cycle I am already 36 weeks so if the baby is born this coming week there would be no problem. I have been having ultrasounds monthly due to my 3 fibroids and trust me the baby is growing well. More thna likey the fibroids are contributing to my early dilation along with my family history. I would never wish my baby out an earlier than was healthy for her, thats just makes no sense!

I am in my 38th wk (due 15Dec) and am about 3.5 cm and 90% effaced. I've been seeing A LOT of mucuousy discharge over the past couple of days. Could that mean I'm effacing more and that I might be delivering sooner than expected?

Ca__sandra - December 21

I am 36 weeks, 2cm and 70% effaced. I had gone in for an appointment last monday and was told that i was 2cm and 50% effaced. i began experiencing consistent Braxton-Hicks 4 days later and called to see what the Dr. wanted me to do. He wanted me to come in so he check me. I had effaced 20% more in 4 days. I don't know what that means, but he told me to drink lots of fluid and to stay off of my feet. He wants me to try to hold off until atleast 37 weeks. i have a toddler, so the "staying off my feet" is impossible. I go for another appointment on Thursday and I'm sure they'll check me again. i feel a lot of pressure down there and the Braxton Hicks are sometimes intense, but they are still not painful. i've done 'self-examinations" and I can feel my cervix is right at the opening to my v____a... i hope it's not much longer. All I seem to do is eat in these last months. I've already gained 36 lbs i don't want to gain anymore.
