70%effaced and finger tip dialated at 30 weeks and 6 days? i had to go to labor and delivery the other night to have contractions stopped that was the first time i was checked so far and they told em that i was 70% effaced softened and finger tip dialated. what does that mean ? am i going to make it to at least 37 weeks?

I went into preterm labor at 26 weeks. They stopped it and i remained almost 4 cm dilated until i delivered her at 38 weeks. There is really no way to know.

When they say finger tip dilated, they probably mean that you are just shy of 1 cm. Your cervix isn't closed but not fully 1 cm yet. I went into preterm labor at 34 weeks, dilated to 3 cm and was put on medication for the rest of the pregnancy and then I ended up having to be induced at 41 weeks! I was already fully 4 cm dilated when I was 41 weeks and still felt fine (aside from painful irregular contractions). Babies seem to have a mind of there own when they're going to come into the world and there's really no way to predict it. I never thought I would make it to 41 weeks after the preterm labor!
