Ok let me just start with what happened Monday when I went to the hospital due to active labor. The Doc said I am in the beginning stages of labor and I should go home and wait it out until I have to somewhat breath with contractions. I agreed and now I am home. Doc thinks its going to be in the next couple days but she wanted me to still keep my Thursday appt just in case I haven't had baby. She thinks I won't make it to Thursday, Yeah! It was all great news to me because I am soooooo ready to have this baby. Well in the mean time I called my MIL to come from 9 hours away to be here and I have tried to have Sex and it is not moving any faster. I'm worried this was false labor and I have a couple more weeks, UGH. I do need to walk but the weather wasn't so nice and I wasn't feeling too great yesterday. My husband also needed to take a nap when he got home since we were at the hospital the night before until 11pm and he has to be up for work at 2:30am so he was tired. I can't go anywhere without him just incase I need his assistance. I am hoping either the weather gets nicer or when my dh gets home we go walk at the store or something. If anyone has some good ideas for me to help the process it would be great. I would really like to have baby by this weekend but I also know that if it is not his time then I can't force it. My body is telling me one thing and baby is wanting to stay in until he can walk out, UGH. I'm just in so much pain and would like to speed things up. Hopefully when I go in tomorrow for my appt if I make it to that point, the midwife agrees that I have been have been going through enough pain that they can just induce me to help the process. I don't think I can keep feeling this way for another couple weeks. Ideas, ideas, ideas would help and see if it works. Sex did not work and it was very uncomfortable so I am disappointed with that method.

That stinks...to get all excited, then come home! But I have to tell ya, with my first, I was just waiting for the day, and then when they told me I needed to be induce, my stomache dropped, and I suddenly wanted that last week back! Same with this one. Yesterday, my doc said "any minute" and again, I got scared and worried! But enough about me! Why not just walk around the house, or do some nesting...get the room just right, do some laundry, turn on the ipod and do some dancing...if anything the music, and activity will make you feel better! Good luck!

I think all of the methods to get thing going only work if your body is ready. I'm 39 weeks today with #3 and with the first two I did everything to go into labor and they were both still two weeks late. This time at 36 weeks I started using evening primrose oil, s_x a few times a weeks and drinking red raspberry leaf tea and at 37 weeks I was 100% effaced and 2 cm which I never got to with the first two until 41 weeks. I'm being induced tomorrow though. I do know a few people who have had their membranes stripped and then had s_x that night and that worked for them. So maybe see if your midwife will do that tomorrow or you could just beg for an induction :) Good luck I know how frustrating it is!!

Thanks ladies I will definitely be taking up your ideas. I started nesting this morning about 5:45 and the funny thing is I was craving a hershy almond so I stuffed one of those down and have been at it. OMG Corbin, I am so going to try the oil and tea thing and hopefully it helps me. Otherwise ladies it on my hands and knees begging for them to strip my membranes or induce me. Does it hurt to get your membranes stripped? I am so ready but I am trying to be patient and walk walk walk too.

Some people say it hurts and others say it doesnt. I thought it was uncomfortable but totally worth it if it works!

well, another option - which you may or may not be comfortable with, is a warm bath and a gla__s of red wine. I know I know - no alcohol - but if you ask the dr, they will probably tell you it won't hurt at this stage. A friend of mine is a doula and was the one who told me that. I tried the bath - but I wasn't into the wine thing. I DO know that a lot of people drink red wine in pregnancy - and that once in a while it won't hurt. But that's a whole other topic! :)

Try taking black and blue cohosh together. Blue cohosh is supposed to bring on more contractions and the black regulate them. It's worth a try!

At some point they should probably help it along. The same thing happened with my first. I was having contractions 7 mins apart for 30 hrs. I went to the hospital after about 24 hrs and they said to just go home and wait it out. About 12 hrs later I went back and my contractions were 4-5 mins apart and I was 4 cm dilated. I stayed that way for another 5 hrs and they finally broke my water and started me on petocin because they said I had been in labour for so long that pretty soon my uterus would get too tired to keep pushing and I would have to have a c-section. All in all, my labour was 46 hrs. I tried s_x, I walked for hours, there was nothing I could do. Either way, I'm sure it will be soon for you--good luck!!
