does anyone else have swollen feet? My feet are swollen to the point where i cannot put on shoes. It seems like if i walk or sit all day it's the same problem. It hurts when i walk, tried soaking them and didn't do any good- eliminated salt but same issue. Doc says bp is normal so they are not worried about preclampsia but.....Is this excessive swelling? 34 wks 2 days. Oh my fingers swell too but not half as bad and it does go away- my feet won't go down!!!!!

Unfortunately it's normal and is a result of where the baby is sitting. It will most likely continue until you give birth or the baby moves. I have been fortunate in having mild swelling but my mom had ginormous feet and ankles until I was born and it wasn't due to blood pressure but my position. I hope for your sake it gets better!

Hi Beardtl, I was swollen with my last 2 pregnancies. With my dd I got so swollen that It would hurt to walk due to the bending at my ankles would pinch and it happens sometimes with this pregnancy but I try to keep my legs put up. My last pregnancy I swelled up even worse after I had my dd and it took like 2 weeks to go all the way down but that is not the same for everyone. I never had any swelling with my first 2 pregnancies but these last 2 have taken a toll on me. With this pregnancy I just sit in a recliner and have my legs reclined. It helps alot. I didn't have much swelling in my hands with my last pregnancy but this pregnancy my hands just got to the point of swelling where I have a red raw line on my wedding ring finger and had to remove it. I was sooooooo sad and upset but I don't want my finger to fall off or have the pain from the rawness. GL and keep trying warm feet soaks and elevating your legs, don't cross them either.

I had really bad swelling in my legs, ankles, and feet as well. (Hands and wrists too, and near the end of my pregnancy, starting in my face!) It wasn't because of blood pressure, it was just extra fluid. Unfortunately, I had to wear slippers home from the hospital, as the swelling got worse after my daughter was born! (But it was only short term...a week later and I finally have my feet back!) The thing that helped the most was staying hydrated, and ALWAYS propping my feet up. My doctor told me to keep my feet up (no walking to induce labour for me!), and to always have a pillow under them. I slept with my feet propped as high as I could (it's awkward though, sleeping on your side with your feet propped up!). They improved the most when they were elevated higher than my head. (That was also advice from my doctor.) Difficult to do when suffering from heartburn at night, but if you can, I really recommend it. Maybe try wearing some compression socks (but talk to your doctor about those first, just to make sure they're safe for you.). Good luck! Hope you feel better soon! And, so you know...I had my daughter one week ago, and I already forget how uncomfortable it all felt. I remember being swollen, but I really don't remember how it felt. If that's any consolation! :)

Perfectly normal! I have cankels. Can't tell where my calf end and my ankle starts. I am running out of shoes that fit. You will have your legs back once that baby gets here. Mine went away after a couple days of my DD birth. Until then keep your legs up, lay on your left side when you can and I find that eating Asparagus helps reduce the swelling.
