Is It Always Obvious When Baby Drops

Hi,
I'm 36 and 1/2 weeks along and wondering if baby has dropped yet. I know I've read posts saying that women felt it happen or knew when it happened...but do all women feel it? It is obvious?
I sometimes feel pressure on my bladder, like she's punching it...but it's not a constant pressure. I was waking up 2 times a night to use the bathroom and last night it was 5 times. I don't know if it was a fluke or not. I guess I'll see again tonight.
Some women say they feel like that baby is going to fall out of them? I don't know.
Since I still have 3 and a half weeks til my due date I guess she still has time to drop. This is my first by the way. Any opinions are appreciated! Thanks.

This is my first. I am 40 weeks this Saturday. I haven't dropped yet. I am at my ropes end with frustration, I have been Miss "Bubbly optimistic I am so happy, pregnancy is wonderful, I have no complaints" up until tonight. I am not dilated at all either. All I want is to sleep for 5 hours straight, and on my stomach... Supposedly you drop 2-4 weeks before labour with your first and not until much later with subsequent pregnancies - like even right when you start going into labour. A girl I was in cla__ses for 3 months with dropped about 1 week before her due date and it was really obvious to me and everyone else (I only saw her 1X per weeks) but she didn't notice it herself....

mlscott, I'm so sorry you're 40 weeks and haven't dropped yet! Is the dr. going to induce you? Strange and funny that you notice the girl in your cla__s dropped but she didn't notice it herself. Well I think I'm like you...I don't think I've dropped yet. Are you effaced or dilated at all yet? I guess that can't really happen if you haven't dropped...or can it?

i am 38 wks with my second baby, and i know that it's dropped because i noticed a difference in high how the top of my belly was when i stand up. But it's not a "one day it happens" kinda thing, from my experience, it's the kinda thing where i could feel over time the babe lowering gradually, i could tell because my muscles hurt more, i pee more, sometimes baby is sooo low that i get wicked shooting pain in my cervix area.... but you know, the whole dropping thing, it continues, until the baby is born, and as the baby puts pressure on the cervix, that's what causes it to efface and dilate. "early labor" is that process... and early labor can begin a month, just weeks, or days before active labor happens.

My first pregnancy I didn't drop!!! I am hoping this one I do! Because it was a lot of work manually getting the babe to drop (pushed for 2 hours to get him into position before TRUE pushing)! Good luck ladies- I am only 28 weeks I wish I were as far as you guys! I am excited to meet my babe!
