HI!! Ok gals here is our story!! Tuesday July 23rd I went to my 38 week appt and she said all was good and she would see me next week. So that night we were sitting on the back deck bbqing and I felt a small gush - so I thought I had a bladder issue and went to the washroom and by the time I made it in there, my water had definatly broken!! So I cleaned up and went and told Wyatt that he better turn the bbq off cause we should go to the hospital!! We were soo excited! We packed up and drove into the city. I was feeling great and just had water leaking. It broke at about 7:30pm. They admitted us into antepartum and into a room by 8:30 and I was still feeling great. No conractions or pain. I made the mistake of making a comment about how if this was it, it was not so bad at all!! hmmm yeah right. About 10min later my labor hit hard and furious. I was contracting every 2 mins and they were lasting 2 mins each, so they were one on top of each other and unbearable. Because I had some scar tissue on my cervix from a prior laser surgery done to it, I could not dilate on my own, and had to have the doc streach the cervix with hiscfinger to release the tissue, but I guess it is really painful and they wont do it without an epidural, so here I sat thinking I was going to die, the nurses panicking because I couldn't get a break in between the contractions and the drug-guy was tied up in other labor rooms. So they gave me a shot of Phentanol through my IV and within 2 mins I was so goofed up that I remeber Wyatt saying my eyes were literally crossed!! Lol!! Man that is some good stuff!! It was enough to relax me enough that the drug-guy could get my epidural in and administered. Oh sweet heavens that is a wonder drug!! Once the epidural kicked in we were good to go. He streatched my cervix and I went from 1cm to 6 instantly and he said her head was right there, we just had to wait for me to go to 10. It took about three hours and I called him and told him I felt like I needed to push and he checked and yup... 10 cm and ready to go. So that was it.. doc came in, put on her gloves and said the next contraction - push. I was like.. that's it?? Just push??? Ok, here goes. I pushed probably a good dozen hard pushes and she was just about out, but needed a little help, so they used the vac_me on her and gave her that last little pull that I just couldn't manage to do. I was sure I was going to give myself a brain hemmorage or blow my eyes out of their sockets, so I was very thankful for the help. I really had no pain, just a ton of pressure. She was born at 6:41am and was beautiful!! They laid her right on my chest and wiped her off there and left her there with me for a good 10 mins while they delivered my placenta and Wyatt cut her cord. I just stared at her and cried. I couldn't believe that she was there!! She was soo small. I was expecting this big baby that weighed over 9lbs and here was this beautiful tiny little thing that only weighed 6lbs 14oz.!! All in all it was a fantastic experience and other that my full on hard labor for a few hours at the beggining, it was really not bad at all. I only have one stich on each side from the vac_me and feel great now. We had to stay an extra day at the hospital as she was really mucusy at night and would spit and gag on the mucus and they wanted to make sure she got rid of most of it before we went home. They first two nights they kept her in the nursery to watch her and would bring her to me for feedings - which was a blessing as I got some good sleeps in while in there. Last night I got to keep her with me and I didn't sleep as well, but we did good and she did spit up a bit, but I dealt just fine. So they discharged us today and we are now at home and it feels so great to have her with us here. She has caught on to nursing really well and aside from seeming like she has narcalepsy while feeding since she seems to forget what she is doing and just goes to sleep, we are doing really great. She is so content and very quiet and just loves to sleep so far. I am still in awe that she is mine and I can't help but just stare at her!! Life's true miracle.

Congratulations!! It sounds as though you had a pretty good labor experience. Is this your first child? I just had our little boy on the 17th, so he is nine days old today. We couldn't be happier. We have a two and a half year old daughter as well and I am done having children. Isn't it amazing that they are so little. Our daughter was 6 pounds 8 ounces at birth, and our son was 7 pounds 15 ounces. Although, he didn't look that much bigger than our daughter was to me. I had forgotten exactly what it was like to have a newborn in the house. It is the greatest feeling in the world, and it is almost like you are on a high of some sort. Even with little or no sleep in the night, I am so happy to be the one to care for my little monkey in the middle of the night. I am sure you feel the same. What was your actual due date?

Oh, I am so glad I checked this before I went to bed!!!! What a wonderful birth except for the one on top of eachother contx!!! I know EXACTLY how that feels. I felt it after my water broke with my last. (gives me the willies thinking bout it!!!) I'm not just saying this to be nice either-she is one of the prettiest little baby girls I have ever seen. Was Wyatt surprised it was a girl? I love the name too by the way. How did y'all finally decide? Oh big hugs for you lady!! I bet you were so shocked when your water broke!

Mjvdec - Congrats to you as well! It truly is the best feeling in the world to have her at home and get to snuggle her whenever I want! I just wish she would stay this small longer! I know it will fly by. My due date was Aug6th - she was born at 38 weeks exactly.Gabby - LOL! I figured it would catch you by suprise!! I will post all the "juicy details" on our board for ya!! ANd nope - aside from all my fears of "pooping" myself - there was none that I know of!!! I don't think I even farted!! lol!! Erin - Yeah those contx were the worst thing I have experienced before. THe one nurse told me to b__w them away - and I snapped at her and told her there was not enough breath in te world to b__w these *&^%$( things away!! Oops - I don't think she took it personally. Wyatt was just in shock I think, but she has him wrapped around her tiny finger already!! As for the name once she was born and she was laying on my chest we both agreed that she suited Jessica! I was absolutley shocked when my water broke - I don't know why but I kinda had forgotten about that whole part of labor and was watching for contractions instead!! :) Thank you so much for the compliment about her - I would have to agree with you, but I am soo biased!!! I can't wait to read about miss Cree when she arrives. I still can't believe that Jessica is here and not in my belly anymore. Oh i am in love
