HELP! Erin's Mom (or anyone else with a similar experience - I am just going on 24 weeks pregnant and think I may have lost my MP last night. It was about a tablespoon of clear slime quite heavily streaked with a darkish red/brown (blood) colour. I've had no real pains - none that I can distinguish from normal stretching etc - and there's ben absolutely no more blood or leaking of fluid. I spoke to the gynae on call today (Saturday) but all he wants to do is an internal examination. I'm petrified of going ahead with as I know people who have subsequently lost pregnancies / gone into labour after an internal. As this is my first pregnancy to go this far (lost my first baby at 7 weeks two years ago) I have no idea what to expect. The doctor doesn't sound too worreid and has advised I watch for bleeding, fluid loss and contractions if I don't wantt o be examined. I just want to know from anyone who may also have lost their MP this early on if my baby is going to be ok?

I lost my plug 5 days before giving birth. I went into labor on my own.

I am lost mine a wk ago at 33 wks but I am already dilated and effaced (have been for a month) so I'm not sure when I will go into labor but I found mine in my undies when I woke up and it was a snotty clump of yuckiness lol

I lost a quarter size of whitish discharge a week ago...and this morning I wiped after the shower and got a long, thick, goopish snotty bunch of white stuff... lots! Like ton of snot!!! I'd say the size of a half dollar too! What is that?! Can't jsut be dishcharge, can it? I'm 30 weeks.

With my first I lost it 2 days before going into labour. With my 2nd I didn't lose it until I was well into labour and my water broke. I kept thinking I couldn't be in labour because I hadn't lost my mucous plug yet, but I guess that;s not always how it works!

I am 37w 5d and I lost mine last night. I was really anxious about not knowing what it looked like, but when it happened I knew for sure that it was my mp. It looked exactly like the books describe: about as long as my index finger, about as thick as as my index+middle finger, yellow/whitish snot-like substance, with a string of brownish blood in it. It was about 3am and I woke up with a really wet feeling down there, so I got up and wiped, and there it was. It's really gross looking, but I was relieved to see it. I had my membranes swept 2 days ago, with mild cramping/contractions off and on ever since. I also have had alot of brownish (not red) bloody discharge; the midwife said this was normal. When my membranes were swept I was 2cm dilated, 70% effaced, -2 station. Also, hubby & I tried to get things going by having s_x last night, that could have possibly helped my mp to come out. Not in labor yet... still waiting! Good luck everyone!

I lost my plug all in one go during labour - the nurse checked moments later and I was 5cm dilated, my daughter arrived about 5 hours later (total active labour 6 hours).

With dd I lost my mucous plug a couple of hours before I went into labour. It was a thick chunk of pink goo. With ds I didn't lose it until just before my water broke (which happened just before I had to push), but I never saw it as I had a water birth, but I remember the midwife commenting on it. I am 10wks preg with #3 so it will be interesting to see what happens this time.

i am 36 wks pregnant now and i havent seen anything yet. i have been through 3 pregnancy / labor and all 3 times have never seen my mucus plug fall out!!! i miss the d__n show 3 times! it will be my 4th if i miss it again this time!

Hello, great idea! I know everyone is different but here's my story. With my first I was 37 weeks when I lost my plug. It came out in pieces and was like a big booger with some blood in it, I know gross. That happened on a friday and 2 days later I had some blood when I wiped and some more of the mucus plug came out. I went into labor monday at 37w3d and delivered the the next day. Another thing at 37 weeks I had a doctors appt and I was 3 cm 60 % effaced.

i lost my plug june 1 (i was like 35 weeks1 day). it was a big glob or yellow/clear snot when the tissue is rubbed together it would spread. two days later ---- i lost the bloody show. i was in labor & have been having constant contractions & double contractions 2-4 minutes apart since then.i was 1.5 cms internal cervix/ 3 cms external cervix & 20% effaced. i was in labor & delivery on Sunday and i cant dilate past the 3 cm mark. im 70-75% effaced now & contractions the same & ive started losing my plug again! that started the 14th of june so two weeks after i lost it the first time.
