I have not had any blood at all with mine so I cant comment on that but with me, it literally looked like I blew my nose into a tissue. When they say it looks like snot they are serious. Sounds like you may be pa__sing some of it though. GL!! and make sure to let your doc know about it!

Marie, I have never had my mucus plug fall out at home but when I was at the hospital it did fall out. My plug did have blood looking streaks in it and it was a very thick discharge like snot as Jennifer put it, LOL. I know this sounds weird but if you Google mucus plug and click on image it has a good example of what it looks like. Gotta love GOOGLE, lol!!!

Have a question on when your water broke..If it broke and my husband is at work..it will take around 3 hrs or so for the time he get home and trip to the hospital..will that affect the baby? Thanks!

I've never had my water break at home but I do know that once my water did break I was having my baby within an hour after. I would suggest that if you start feeling labor pains that are regular to call your hubby and have him come home right away and be prepared to go to the hospital otherwise have a back up to get you to the hospital and your hubby can meet you there.
I do want to worn u that if you go too long after your water breaks then your are exposing the baby and yourself to infection but usually its ok. The reason your water would break is because baby is wanting to come out and its definitely almost time if not in a couple minutes, LOL just kidding. Everyone is different so your water could break and it takes your hours and hours to fully dialate and have the baby. Its such a toss up. Hope that helps answer your question. Let me know if you have anymore.

If your water were to break at home you would need to call your doc right away and let them know what is going on. If it breaks and has a greenish brown tinge to it, the baby pooped in the womb and you would prolly need to go in right away. If it breaks before the onset of labor, labor usually kicks in soon after. If it doesnt then you are usually induced to get htings going or to help you progress. The only concern after the water breaking is that the baby is no longer protected from the outside world. But to ease your mind USUALLY the waters break during active labor and a lot of times the doc has to break them for you. It CAN happen however before labor as said but that is not as common as you would think. With hubby being 3 hours away you might wanna have a back up plan on getting to the hospital like mehagen said. GL girl!

Mahagen-- you should be seen by you dr asap after your water breaks-especially if it is a big gush. Sometimes--very rarely-an umbilical prolapse can occur. This is when the umbilical cord is swept into the v____a with the rush of amniotic fluid. It is an emergency situation because it can cut off oxygen to the baby. All of my dr's have said go immediately to the hospital if my water breaks. Not to scare you because this is incredibly unlikely, but it does happen, so three hours would be too long to wait.

oops--I addressed that to Mahagen and I meant Marie, sorry! And I will reiterate what Jenn said, usually water doesn't break at home. It did happen, with my first, though, with no warning! Wish you all luck!

Mine was never bloody. I didnt even feel it come out. I just went to the bathroom and wiped. Since i had become pregnant I always looked at the toliet paper to make sure there was no blood, so I had looked at it and on the toliet paper was a big glob of mucus. mine was a yellowish cream color. It actually happened twice, the very next day i wiped and the same amount came out. very gross. I should mention though that it came out a few days after my doc appt... and at that appt she had checked my cervix... maybe thats what made it come out.

oh and about the water thing, if your water is even leaking you need to call your doc, that could still cause an infection. I beleive they would put you on bed rest if your not far enough to let it heal up ( I might be incorect on that but Im almost positive thats what they do). And even after your water breaks it doesnt mean you will have the baby right away. My water gushed out at home and I was in labor for 26 hours before I had her...they would make you come in either way just because they want to make sure no infection takes place.

For my first baby..My water broke ~ 2AM..I went into labor around 8PM..They have to inject some medicine to create more contraction..This one will be 2nd baby..should be born much faster..My husband take around 30mins come back home from work, then probably another 40-60 mins to the hospital...depend on the traffic..Probably 1hr 1/2 to 2 hrs for the whole trip..Thanks all for the tips..
