Oh, I'm at 39 1/2 wks. I don't really feel all that big, other than that my belly is stretched to the limit. It's always hard now cause he's taking up so much space, so it's even hard to tell when I'm having BH. Of course my MIL did laugh at me the other day for "being fatter" than her. ( Which isn't true, It's almost over.... It's almost over....)

Hi Marianne,
My first was a 9 lb 1 oz boy and i did have an epidural but it was not bad at all. I only pushed for 30 mins and he was out. I had the opposite of you, not to scare you but they said the morning before that he was8lb 6oz. I did have some severe tearing and I took twice as long to heal. He is so worth it though. They told my sis her baby was over 10 lb on an u/s and she was barely 8. So dont worry, you will get through it and whether it is good or bad you will have a beautiful baby and it will be worth it.

Marianne, it's me again. The Dr. just called back this morning and they're pretty positive he a big baby. They pushed my dr appt from next Tues to tomorrow and it sounds like they're planning on inducing me early. I'm hoping for Sunday! I think my contractions may have just started ( but 17 min apart so far) Hopefully, this will move fairly quickly and I can let you know how accurate that u/s was !!!

Marianne... I had a 8lb 11oz baby boy in September... and it really wasnt that bad. It really depends more on their length though. Mine was kind of short and chubby rather than long and skinny... but still the labor and recovery were not bad at all. I did have an episiotomy done because ds had a really big head... lol... but again. Not bad at all. They only typically gain half a pound more each week near the end... so she may not be too terribly big. Good luck to you, and happy delivery! Sounds like your almost there!

Joy 28 - Good Luck! That is so exciting. I have to admit I am a little jealous that your contractions have started. :) Let me know how things go - if you have time:)
Lisa MC - You are my hero. Go ahead with your bad self girl. Heehee Thank you for such a positive post. Makes me think I can really do this.

Hi! The doc thought my first son was big, she sent me for an u/s to measre him and they estimated 7lb4oz. I was 39 weeks, the next day my water broke and I had him naturally, no epidural (I wanted one but it went too fast, just a 4 hour labor!) and he weighed 8lb9oz. So, sometimes the u/s measurements can be off! I only pushed for about 20 minutes, and had a small episiotomy, but it was more due to the speed of labor and the size of his head. (Didn't have time to stretch the opening, and he had a VERY big head, lol!)
