okay I figured I would bump this back up. Well my daughter is 9 days old and she really does not like being put in it. I thought I may of bee n doing it wrong but i am not. I guess she feels too confined in it. she does look stuffed in there. She was born 9 lb 10oz so i wouldnt think weight had to do with it. I hope this helps. I may try it again in a week to see how it goes.

hey Red... I think some babies like it and some dont *shrug* Im hoping my little one doesnt mind it because I have to fly back to Texas after I have her and I would rather not have to hold her all the way through the air port lol.

Does anyone know which is more confining -- peanut shell or hotsling? I keep hearing peanut shell is better for newborns, so I'm thinking i might want the hotsling as it could work longer?

Stef.. I got the hotsling.. Im not really sure what the differences are but I think the hotsling can be used in different ways and still used all the way up to toddler. Im not sure if the peanut shell one can too.

Thank you Heather! I think I'll go with the hotsling then b/c I'd like to be able to use it longer. i work from home and hope it can come in handy to keep the baby with me while I take phone calls, work on the computer, etc. We'll see though as nothing ever goes as planned, lol

lol no kidding, things never go the way we want them to. I hope it works out for you though!

Oh blah, I am starting to think that I'm just going to wait till my little guy is born and then go to a store and try it out. OH, STEF, I'm also a little worried about the Texas weather and the baby being in the sling...it seems like they would get so hot in it, what do you think? But having it while you're doing chores or running errands in an air conditioned building would surely beat holding them or pushing a stroller around.

sashasmama, Im worried about the heat too.. Im in Arizona right now but I live in Texas, either way its going to be HOT. Im hoping that it will still be useful inside though!

sashasmama, good point because the weather in MO isn't much different. hmmmmm...maybe I'll hold off on that and just see how things go. They aren't cheap either so I'd rather put the money towards a few things I must have. I'll keep reading here for reports on what people think if someone keeps this page up top.

lol dont worry.. I'll look down the list and find it so I can let you guys know how it works for me.. if the thread gets lost I'll just make a new one. I'll keep yall posted :)

I say just wait and see and maybe look on ebay I just don't want to spend the money and then have my little one not even like it..LOL I'll keep checking to see which ones work best or I am sure one of us will start a new thread in the infant care forum

check second hand stores too... they are a life saver!!! I agree that it sucks spending so much money on something you wont use but if you can get a deal on it then it wont seem like such a waste.

Hey Heather I live in Arlington, Tx and I dont think I would wear it outside in this heat but mainly inside and going into stores. But i defiantly know what you mean about the airport lines thats for sure. I am hoping that maybe i got a too small of a size so i am going to return the one and get a bigger size. hopefully thats it. I am typing with one hand so please over look the screw ups. Oh i got mine off of a site other then hotsling and paid 20% less for it and they do do returns. i think it is le bu or something like that.

HeatherIsHopeful - June 10

thanks red, Im really hoping she doesnt mind it because the air port is going to be killer if I have to hold her and fumble around with my ID and boarding pa__s and all that. let us know if the bigger size helps. I think I got mine in the right size but who knows... I could end up with a huge baby lol.
