Hi July mommies! I am a July mommy too. I just wanted to share my news. I had my 37 week check this morning and I am 2cm, very, very soft and I have lost my plug! I am so excited. My OB is going to induce me on the 17th, that is only 2 weeks from today!

Stef you are so funny. LOL! I try not to wince in pain, I just adjust my body alot. Sasha maybe that was your bloody show. What exactly would that mean in terms of labor though? I haven't had it happen to me so I am curious. Well ladies, here's hoping that one of us has some good news this weekend.

Ceecee, I've read a lot of conflicting information about the mucus plug vs. the bloody show. So far what I got from it was that mucus plug is usually "snot" type jello consistency and can be either clear or white or yellow or pink/blood tinged. The bloody show is supposed to be red blood or blood mixed with just a bit of regular discharge. The loss of mucus plug doesn't really mean much in terms of when the labor will start, but the bloody show indicates that labor will start within 24-48 hours. A lot of times you don't get bloody show until you are in active labor. So it was just my plug :(

MJ, if you don't mind me asking, why are you getting induced?

I don't mind answering. My hubby works over an hour from home and the rest of my family is a bit further. Out where we live I really have no support system, other than a girlfriend that lives across the street, however, she is leaving to go camping for a couple of weeks with her family on the 16th. So, to be sure I am not home alone with our 2 and a half year old, my OB agreed that it was best for our situation to induce if my condition was favorable. As of today he is very confident that it is. He did say though that there is still a chance I could go on my own before my induction. With our daughter he induced me 12 days early, because he wanted to have me delivered before he left for vactation. Good news was that I had already started on my own the morning of. I have been spending 45 minutes to an hour a day on my exercise ball and I really think that has had a lot to do with my progress so far. Our goal is to be at 4cm by the 17th, and about 50%. My first labor was 11 and a half hours.

Hi MJV thats great that you already know when your having your baby.. i bet your excited

mjvdec01 - July 3

I am so excited. Last week I was 0 and 0% and was a bit disappointed. It is really starting to hit home that in two weeks we will have two children. The nursery just needs the finishing touches and I have everything else I am going to need all ready to go.

MJ, I'm due on the 11th, we're having a boy. We have a 2.5 year old daughter. I wish I knew when he is going to make his entrance! I've been having all kinds of symptoms, including crazy painful contractions which I never experienced being pregnant with my daughter until I went into labor. I've had cont. at 5 mind apart for about 3 hours a few times now, and they would hurt so bad it almost made me cry -- but then they dissapear. I'm so miserable though, grrrrrr, I have no energy to do anything anymore.

I'm sorry you are so miserable. I really don't feel so bad this time. With our first It was hell from about 35 weeks on. This time around I can sleep pretty well and I don't have any pain under my ribs at all. I really think the exercise ball has something to do with it. He has definitely dropped between last week and today. Sitting on the ball really isn't work, it kindof feels good. I just didn't infate it all the way, so it is more spongy. It was only $16.99 at Fred Meyer and it came with a pump and an ab workout dvd for later. Our daughter is almost 2 and a half and that is probably the hardest part to deal with. She wants to go all the time, and sometimes all I want to do is sit for awhile. It makes me feel really guilty.

I'm due July 31. AT my appointment Tuesday I was 50% effaced but not dialated. :/ Glad to see there are some other later in July due dates on this board now :)

mjvdec01 - July 3

pepper, is this your first child? My actual due date is july 24th.

We are having a boy too. We chose the name Nathaniel James Venable, but we will probably call him Nathan or Nate. Have you girls decided on names yet?

sashasmama - July 4

Is anyone awake??? You guys, I'm in LABOR!!!! Yay, I'm so excited, but it hurts so bad. I've been having regular cont. since about 9 p.m. and it's 2 a.m. right now, I'm pa__sing major bloody show (now I can see the difference between the mucus plug and bloody show). I just hope this goes well. The best pain medicine so far has been breathing and saying "relax" in my mind and reminding myself that it's going to be over in just a sec. MJ, we are naming him Evan Alexander Vaughn. Oh it hurts so bad, so I probably won't post again until I'm back home with my baby, unless I'm still here in the morning still dealing with early labor. Wish me luck!

OMG! Sashamama~ Congratz! Sorry you are in pain, but at least you know soon it will be over and you will be holding your little one finally. Take care and I wish you a quick smooth labor and delivery! YAY!

stefkay - July 4

ELENA!!! YAY! Ok, I feel like I missed a lot...I swear I typed a post and put it up yesterday but I don't see it now!? Weird. I said that since you had your bloody show it would probably be very soon....wooohooo! So looks like another baby on the way! TODAY is my due date and I'm feeling NOTHING out of the ordinary, lol...I have a nonstress test (NST) at the hospital in 1/2 hour so I have to go get ready. Will post later
