Question - March 28

Sarah, Clair is coming soon now don't you worry! We save the best birth for last, and i just can't wait to hear your March end story. You have been wonderfully patient this month. High fives! My sis in law had her baby this morning and it's a girl. She was 8 days over due and had an induction because the weight was over 8lbs. The baby weighed 8lbs and 7oz. Hannah had her weight check and she gained 2 lbs!! So 8lbs and 6oz. So, now our family has 8 granddaughters and 2 grandsons. Girls everywhere! Sorry for being mia a bit, it's been very hectic with baby, toddler, pumping and lots of outings. My incision is still sore and today I'm getting it checked today. It's hard to take it easy, I just can't chill when there's so much going on here, Shewy. Hannah slept though the night twice now and she seems to want a feeding at 3am mostly. Her little cheeks are beginning to get some chub as she reaches 1 month. Sarah, get as much rest, babies seem to get going during cat naps. I wish you the best these next few days. Erica

Kristin sound like Kayden is doing well and that is always a good feeling when it comes to our newborns. Kannon just had his 1 week appointment and I had tons of concerns to address but they were all perfecto and so is he. I was worried about thrush, hemmeroids, jaundice and his watery stools but doctor said everything looked great which was a relief. He even gained 7 pounds from last Saturdays weight of 7 lbs 12oz before we left. He was born 8 lbs 7.1 oz but of course our lo needs to lose weight before they can gain weight. April the b___stfeeding thing will come along with time and I know it can get frusterating. I have a "all business" eater which means he eats fast and sucks really strong when he is feeding, UGH my poor nipples hurt and I think he is sucking on just my nipple but I can not for the life of me get him to suck my nipple and areola. That is my problemo. I think he gets some areola but more nipple sucking going on. I try to not use the nipple shield if I don't have to but I do need to use it sometimes to ease some of the pain from my nipples. The funny thing is when I would feed my last child my dd she did the same thing and I had to use the nipple shield almost the whole time. It felt so much better but with my ds even using the nipple shield it still is painful. I don't know each baby is different. Sarah I hope you go soon because I know you are extremely excited like I was and it makes the wait harder. Just think it will be soon!!! I am so excited for you to see Claire for the first time :-) I am cheering you on and can't wait to hear she is here. I am crossing all my digits too with Kristin. I here ya about our forum being so quiet. We will all have to go over to the newborn forum and post under March Lucky Charms so we can all still chat and find eachother easily. I miss everyone and all the chatting that use to be going on. Sarah are you the last one or is Val with you too. I know Shala got induced for sure on Thursday if she didn't already go. I am thinking of everyone and can't wait until the long haul is over for everyone. Talk about our babies being fashionably late, UGH

Well ladies...my baby is finally here!!! The shortened version is I went into labor on my own on Tues morning about 4am and by 7:40pm Wyatt was born weighing in at 8lb 12 oz and 20 in long. We just got home last night and so far are adjusting well. I will try to post the whole story and some pics before the weekend is over, but for now I'm getting things in order for the parade of company we will be seeing through the weekend. Take care ladies...it is sooooo worth it!!!!

sarah21 - March 28

Aww congrats Val! I'm not too mad at you for ditching me, haha. I can't wait to see pics and hear the story. I keep wondering what mine will be. Will it be, "I started screaming for an epidural at 3 centimeters, my midwife laughed at me, I continued screaming until I got to 7 centimeters, then I broke DH's hand since no pain meds were available..." Nah it can't be that bad. I just wanna meet my little girl!!! I keep sitting in my rocking chair in her room, looking at all of her itty bitty stuff and rub my belly and TRY SO HARD to enjoy her in there. I don't mean to be a complainer, but every day I am so much more uncomfortable and my ligaments are so much sorer. I don't think I can take another week of this! I am so close to calling my midwife and begging her to strip my membranes but I know as soon as I go begging her she'll tell me I don't need them stripped because I'm miserable enough to go into labor on my own. Maybe tonight's the night. Evenings are so depressing because it means I'll most likely start another day pregnant and not in labor. Sigh. Sorry to be such a downer girls! So I wonder when Astra will get her b___t on here and gloat about having her baby? And Shala owes us a birth story too.

BriannasMummy - March 29

Wow another one down. Congratulations Val .. wyatt sounds to be nice ane healthy. Im glad that you are all adjusting well.. I cannot wait to see pics. SARAH: Dont ever apologize for complaining.. you deserve to complain.. youre sitting there overdue. Youve done tooo good of a job.. Claire is nice and cozy in there and doesnt want to come out. Dont you just wish there was a special jumping jack you could do and then all of a sudden your water would break and labour would start.. IF ONLY!!!! Come on out Claire.. we want to meet you!!!!!!!!! ~Kristin~

sarah21 - March 29

Oh man if there were a special jumping jack I would totally do it. There aren't many things I wouldn't do if someone told me for sure it would make me go into labor. I called my midwife this morning because the baby hasn't been moving like normal. It took me over an hour to get the 12 movements and they were itty bitty movements. I tried drinking sweet tea (nasty and I almost threw up-- I hate sweet tea) and then went out and got a soda and ate some lunch and still was barely able to get movements. She wasn't worried and said if I want to come in and get the heart monitored it was no problem, but I don't want to drive 45 minutes for nothing. My gut instinct is that everything is probably fine and she said it's possible that she's just settling in for labor so hopefully labor is coming soon. Please Claire! Get out!!

val_jo - March 29

As promised...Wyatt's birth story. I went to the dr on Monday when we decided to make an appointment to discuss a c-section for later in the week. In a last attempt at a natural birth, she stripped my membranes and sent me home with an appointment scheduled for Wednesday. I woke up at about 4 in the morning on Tuesday with some mild contractions that I wrote off as crampiness from the sweep. I decided to hop in the tub and from then on, it started coming stronger and stronger. Matt got up and was getting ready for work. I told him it was probably nothing, but as he was getting ready to leave, it hit me really bad. So he decided not to go and we called the hospital. We got there at about 8am, I was admitted at 4cm, got my epidural at 1pm, and dilated to only 6 by 5pm. Just as they were thinking he wasn't gonna drop anymore and we were gonna have to do the c-section, I went to 9cm by 5:30 and 15 minutes later was ready to push. He was originally face up, but at the last minute he turned and was born at 7:40 without any forceps or a__sistance. We got home on Thursday and are doing great. He has his days and nights mixed up and it really concerns me because Matt goes back to work on Monday, so if anyone has any suggestions, let me know. Hang in there girls, it is a very hard last few days, but it is so worth it all. Hope you all are well!!

sarah21 - March 29

Thanks Val! Sounds like things went great for you. So happy you were able to do a v____al delivery!

Astra - March 30

Ethan is here! Hi ladies finally my little guy is here! I started having contractions on Monday morning the 24 but after 2 hours they went away. Because I was past due I had an appointment that day to see my doc and for a stress test and ultrasound. While at my appointments I had more contractions and that afternoon they began to be regular. At 7pm they were coming on strong and every five minutes. By 11pm we were at the hospital and they admitted me although I was only 1.5 cm dilated. I tried to hold on as long as I could and contracted fast and strong until 3pm when I received my epidural. I then went to 5 cm and while my contractions were still strong they were getting a little further apart so my water was broken and they gave me pitocin. I continued to dilate and despite the epidural had some pretty extreme back pain (guess who was facing the wrong way?), with some amazing support from the nursing staff and the anesthesia staff they managed to help me keep the pain under control and when I dillated to 10 cm I started pushing. unfortunately our little guy was not coming down into the birth ca___l and the doctor had concerns that he was too big to fit and talked about a c section if he was not dropping within the next couple of hours. When I started having pains again I started pushing and pushed for 2.5 hours. This did the trick and he did drop into the birth ca___l. Because he was showing minor distress and I was very tired from the pushing my doc helped me deliver with forecepts. He arrived on Monday afternoon, at 5:44pm, weighing 7 ibs 7 oz which all the staff said was a really big baby for a very little person such as myself. From begining to end the hospital staff were amazing, and although I had a long and painful labor my experience was very positive. Ethan is a wonderful baby so alert and cuddly. My parents have come to help and my husband has jumped into being a father like a natural, I am amazed by all the love and support shown by my family and friends. I have some second degree tears and a lot of swelling still but recovery is going well, and with all the help I am getting the sleep I need to recover. Feeding is a challenge, we are still struggling with b___st feeding, pumping and formula all mixed in to try to keep my little hungry guy satisfied. I know all you mother feels the same but I am so in love with my little guy, Ethan is just the most beautiful boy in the world! Hormones have been a little crazy. I go through a lot of highs and some tears too. My mom and best friends have been supporting me through the feelings of being overwhelmed, and every day I feel better and more confident as a new mom. Every mintue of pregnancy, every symptom, all the time trying, the hard labor, it all fades away when I hold him in my arms. I've been a bit out of touch with the world, but Sarah I hope you have delivered already or will go very soon. Love you all ladies, thank you so much for all your support and care during these past hard months, you are all amazing and very precious to me...it may take a while but I hope to keep checking in and moving to the infant forum too.

mahagen - March 30

Val your children are so cute and Wyatt and Kannon are both the same size in weight and height but Wyatt did beat my ds Kannon by a few more ounces. Perfect size babies! I know you mentioned your nervous about Matt going back to work but my suggestion is to try and catch a nap while Wyatt is sleeping even if its a cat nap. My little guy Kannon was doing the same thing at first but what I did is tried to keep him up for a little while during the day and then he was ready to sleep longer at night. Even if you can only keep Wyatt up for and extra 15 minutes or so. It will still help because every minute counts. That is how it started off for me. Robin, Justin is getting so big already. Wow kids grow up so fast. Kristin your little guy is just sprouting too. I hope everyone is getting settled with their new bundle of joy. I can't wait to see everyone elses babies that are left to be delivered. Shala and Sarah. I know Shala had her lo but Sarah you are left. Come on and join us Clairepoo, we are all waiting!!! Astra congrats on little Ethan's arrival! Erica, I bet little Hannah is so cute and getting so big being 1 month already, WOW can't believe its been 1 month since some of our ladies have given birth to their lo. Sarah I hope it's soon for you if it hasn't happened already. I am rooting for you!! Astra one more thing, I'm proud of you for sticking it out during a long exhausting labor. I am so glad you are positive about it all and happy knowing it resulted in a little precious baby who will fill all your sads with happyness. Keep your head up! Well ladies I am signing off for now but will check in later. Sarah please please please push our little Claire into the world soon. I am sooooo excited for you. We definitely have saved the best for last!!!

mahagen - March 30

Sarah, Just got your email that your mother sent for you. I am soooooo sorry you are disappointed and was not able to hold baby Claire right away. I hope it is soon and thank God your dh Chris is loving on her. I know how hard it has to be not being able to love on her yourself right now. I definitely have you in my thoughts and prayers. It just makes me so emotional because I know this has been such a long haul for us all and you were our last to delivery. I am very happy and proud of you. Hang in there and keep us posted on how things are with Claire and of course the rest of the family.

Question - March 30

Sarah, Congrats and Welcome Clair!! Thanks Sarah's mom from updating us and the picture of cute baby Clair. She is beautiful. It's good to hear everyone is going to be alright. Stay strong as you will have her in your arms. It the best feeling in the world to finally hold the baby we carry for 9 months. Feel better soon, you finally made it!! Yeah!!!! ((Hugs)) Erica

sarah21 - March 30

Sooo.. for those of you who didn't get my e-mail, yeah yesterday I wasn't feeling well and wasn't feeling the baby move so I called my midwife, went in to listen to the heartrate, it was well over 200 so we shipped out and came to the hospital here. They did an ultrasound and her heartrate was still well into the 200's and they decided we needed to do a c-section. They looked at inducing me instead but I was only dilated one centimeter and not all the way effaced, so she was definitely not coming that way. The started shoving IV's and a catheter and all that good stuff and before I knew it I was getting cut open and got to see her for a split second before they whisked her over and then I got to see her right before they took her to the NICU. Finally I was allowed to get up and go see miss Claire a few minutes ago and she is so beautiful I can't believe she is mine. I wasn't able to hold her yet because the put IV tubing through her umbilical cord and have it really close to her heart to shock it with medication. So far they have only medicated her once today and they said if she keeps her heartrate down (it was 250 earlier! Yikes) and her EKG comes back good then I can nurse her tomorrow and they'll consider sending her home on a heart monitor for a month. If her heartrate skyrockets more than one more time they will put her on continuous heart medication to treat it. Arrhythmias run in our family and my uncle has been on medication for it for years, so I'm not terribly surprised, although I am very disappointed. She knows my voice and just stared at me while I was in there. She has a great suck reflex and is sucking the heck out of that pacifier! I just can't wait to hold her. Astra, so glad everything worked out for you! Our babies almost weighed the same-- Claire was 7.78 pounds (I'm rounding to 8) and 20 inches long. Anyway I am going to get some rest. Thanks for all the well-wishes.

ROBYN - March 30

Hey all as we know Sarah had the baby but she emailed me asking me to post the email from her mother This is Sarah's mom writing. Miss Claire Michelle Shaw arrived unexpectedly 11:50PM on 3-29-08. Sarah hadn't been feeling well so she went to the birthing center where she was planning a birth with her midwife. When the heartbeat was found it was double what it was supposed to be so they were rushed off to the hospital. An hour later Sarah went in for a Cesarean because the heart beat remained over 200 beats per minute. She is still in the NICU this morning with some heartrate problems, though it had been okay all night. She is now on medication that is controlling her heartrate and a Pediatric Cardiologist is on the way in. Sarah is of course feeling sad and cheated that she cannot be with Claire. Daddy Chris has been there all night feeding Claire and loving on her. He's been great! The two girls will be reunited later today when Sarah is allowed to get out of bed. Please keep her in your prayers- she is strong and courageous but so disappointed! I'll send a picture of the new family when we are able to get one. She is at Scott and White hospital in Temple, Texas, room 302 and the number here is 254 724-7666 or her cell is 254 60-7379. My cell is 254 338-0190
