Hi ladies! How is everyone feeling? Chattykathy, my big family shower is this Saturday too! And more people rsvp'd for mine than I expected as well. I'm excited! Then I am having a small friend shower in March. It's funny: I've been obsessively checking my registry every day, seeing what has been purchased. It's fun! CgGirl, my l/o has been in the same position for what feels like months. His head is on my right side, feet on the left. Dr. just said that is how he has the most room to stay comfy. But I still think at this point they can shift if they want to. He always seems lower during the day and then at night when I lie down he moves higher. Disaya07, how cool. I can't wait to do the 4-D. I'm making the appointment today. I was going to try and wait until 30 weeks but I can't wait any longer! At my last appointment I asked the Dr how big my baby was and she just told me the size of my uterus. She said I was about 2 and a half weeks bigger than "average." Yikes. I hope I don't have a 9-pounder. I'm the size of a 12-year old! I am dreading going to the glucose test too. I go on Wednesday. There are several more things that I can think of that I'd rather be doing than drinking some weird syrup, sitting bored for an hour, then having a needle in my arm. Ugh. I hate needles. I am signed up for childbirth cla__s and we start March 5. Unfortunately, I have heard that they can be pretty boring. You can always shop around and find another cla__s that's cheaper, or get a book about it and do some research on your own. "What to Expect" has pretty good information about signs of labor, labor and delivery and post-partum. FYI, I read in that book that women who attend childbirth cla__ses have slightly shorter labors on average. So you might want to think about it!

Hi Ladies, I've been lurking around for a while but realized that i never did formally introduce myself. I'm in my 27th week, due on May 24. I'm 31 this is my first. My name is Simal and I'm in Ontario Canada. Jaira, i had my sugar test last friday too and although it didn't taste bad the wait for an hour was almost excurtiating. and the ladies were rude to my husband and i...for no reason. Disaya, I too don't want to shell out the money for a birthing cla__s, but i did find a free one in our community so i'm thinking i'll check it out, but at the same time, i read someone somewhere saying that her dr told her that he's noticed that people who didn't take the cla__ses were a lot more calmer during labor than those that took the cla__ses. i even contacted a doula but have yet to see her but now i'm rethinking that too. i think as long as you're prepared for the pain and keep reminding yourself that it'll be over soon we should be fine. i also keep telling myself that women have been doing this for thousands of years and i shouldn't be such a big baby......hehe i'm saying that now though.

Hey Sims! Welcome! I'M also 31 (turning 32 in April), also my first baby and also in Ontario!!!

Sims1 - February 19

Awesome!! You loving our weather??? thank god i have the extra body heat, this winter the cold has acutally been barable lol. when are you due?

CgGirl - February 19

Sims: I am due May 9th! 80 more days to go. Wow, never thought I would make it! Re: our weather: it is the first winter that I am not freezing all the time! Even had to change my pj's to non-flannel and now have a spaghetti-straps top cause I'm so warm at night!!!

Sims1 - February 19

you're lucky it's a lot sooner. i really hate to say since it took forever to get pg, but i'm so done with it. my hips hurt so much. my poor husband for valentines day bought me a giant vibrating ma__sager, but it vibrates my entire body and i so don't think it's safe for the baby. so he's still on manual ma__sage duty lol. YES isn't it crazy i love that i've been so warm this winter. i usually can't stand cold for even a moment and even my husband has noticed that i'm not as cold and i'm the one thats constantly turning down the heat......i so can't wait to have this baby. do you know if you're having a boy or a girl?

CgGirl - February 19

My hips hurt like crazy actually. I'm very small (was 107 pounds before to get pregnant) and I can feel (and see) that my hips are opening and getting larger. I know it's all good, but still it wakes me up every night. I just can't get comfortable sleeping because all the weight when I sleep on my side. I already gained over 20 pounds (around 23 I think) and I am 28 and a half weeks. We're having a girl. What about you?

Sims1 - February 19

i've only gained ten pounds so far, but then again, i have a thyroid issue and just started taking meds before getting pg so i think the meds have helped keep my wieght in check. well last ultrasound the technician showed me what she thinks is a p___s but she still wasn't 100% that it is a boy, but she's leaning towards boy....so i'm guessing boy. i have no clue at this point. my gut says boy though. other than that, i'm so bored and so waiting for the baby to just come. this baby sin't that active or strong with its movements, dh has felt the baby a handful times but most of the time the baby kicks in not out. i'm so so bored though.

Disaya, did you get your 3D/4D through your doctor? when I had my anatomy scan the doctor was going to see if we couldn't get a face shot, but the machine wasn't working! My birthday is coming up, and I think as a present I want to get a sneak peek at my little boy. lol But I don't think I want to go through my OB especially since we couldn't get a video recording of our ultrasound because they don't have a VCR either! - Oh, and BF and I were talking about cla__ses. I think we're going to go for it because our hospital doesn't charge too much, but a good alternative might be buying a video instead. Something to consider! RENEE - I really want to get "thinking womans guide to a better birth". But I read an excerpt and its just like reading a text book. PACKED with information, so I don't know if I can do it. I've been active on communities and such so I'd like to think im fairly prepared, but I don't know! --- 99 days to go for me! Officially in the double digits now, its a little scary! I'm getting really excited to see my little boy, though. We still don't have a name (ugh!) but BF has the task of going through the entire alphabet and trying to think of names from that, and then we'll go from there. I just can't wait to hold him. The neatest part will be that whenever your friends have babies you have to ask to hold and play with them... and with this little guy, if I want to pick him up and give him kisses I can! lol the poor thing probably wont get a moments peace to sleep for a while... until the midnight cries start to get to me!

hey chatty kathy, i just booked my 3d scan today, and it's not through my ob. it's costing me about 149 canadian and this place offers dvd's instead of vcr tapes. so you just have to google it to see whats in your area. that's what i did. also, you have to minimally be drinking 4-6 gla__ses of water in addition to whatever else you drink, in order for them to get a good picture or scan. also the place i called won't do the scans later than 32 weeks, like even 32 they think is too late....

Sims1 - February 19

i forgot to say drinking that much water two weeks at least leading up to the ultrasound not the day of.

I'm taking a childbirth cla__s bunly because they offer a free teen one(I'm turning 16 on the 29th if anyone cares, I didn't think it mattered) at my hospital. I am having what I think are braxton hicks contractions right now except they are really close together. I only feel them on the outside for the most part and I'm kinda of scared because of the whole tail bone thing. So I think I'm going to time them, wish me luck.

RMC - February 19

Hey all. I had a 4d ultrasound done by luck when I went to the ER last month. The tech was totally nice & printed out pictures and everything for me, I was pleasantly surprised. The ER folk are usually not too friendly. I didn't take any baby cla__ses and I'm on my 5th, so I somehow survived lol. I just could never imagine how breathing a certain way would benefit me at all, I have no tolerance for pain whatsoever. I'm having a joint shower with my SIL in April, so that should be fun. We are due the same week. Needless to say, my registry will be a bit bare since I just had a boy Feb 2007 and this one is a boy - I don't need to much. Jaira- six am, ouch. Hope DH is feeling better soon so he can come visit ya! cg and sims - I'm in Phoenix and our weather has been in the mid 70s lately. It's heaven, except for 7 am when I leave the house and it's in the 40s still lol. sarahnicolesmom - if your placenta has moved by monday, then I will have hope that mine can too, although I won't have another u/s to find out until mid march.

ChattyKathy - February 19

Good luck, ashley, and keep us updated. If they are happening frequently I'd head on in to L&D just to be on the safe side no matter what the timing on them is!

CgGirl - February 20

ashley: Please keep us posted; I hope everything is OK. RMC: lol, you certainly have the weather I like!!! Jaira: how are you feeling today?

sterlinberlin05 - February 20

Hey girls, hope you don't mind me still poking in, because I'm probably going to even if you do mind. But I'm glad to see everyone's doing good. Jaria glad that l/o is still in there! Me and hubby are planning on trying again as soon as we're allowed so we've got about a month and a half to go. So I'm hoping that'll give me something to look forward to and help me move on. I just hope it's a gilr! Because if it's not I'm afraid I'll be very very very p__sed! lol Anyhow I was wondering if you can see the umbilical cord in the 3d 4d ultra sounds. Because you can't with the regular ones so I was thinking next time around to make me feel better I might have to do one of those if you can see it. Plus I've decided next time regardless of what anyone else says I'm renting a doppler the ENTIRE pregnancy. Plus I'm taking all these vitamines and stuff and changing my whole diet to "help make a girl". lol sooo hopefully it pays off!
