I'm 38 1/2 weeks.... I was dilated 2cm for three weeks. I'm currently at 3 1/2 baby is great she's HUGE and ready to go..... I've consistently been having contractions that are 6-7 min apart but my cervix is tilted a little bit and her head isn't right on the cervix to make it dilate more. I'm completely thinned out and she's engaged. How long do you think they'll let me go on being miserable (i.e. no sleep, sore muscles due to contracting for four weeks) before they take action?? Any advice is appreciated!!

Hello! it does sound like your miserable and you are so close to your due date... Have you asked your doc/midwife yet about stripping your membranes or if they could induce you a little early? I think overall it will really depend on the route your doctor will go or what he/she will be willing to do for you! Although it sounds like you should go anytime- you can always go over your due date a few weeks so i think you should really talk to your doctor about your options right now..

Sounds like your best bet would definitely be to get a membrane sweep. Just keep trying to walk to get gravity working for you, try nipple stimulation and intercourse and see if anything helps! Also you can try evening primrose oil caplets inserted into the v____a at bed time. They soften up the cervix and help dilate you. Good luck!

I think if you are having contractions that close and your dialted, effaced, etc. then they should let you be up at the hospital and just strip the membranes or break your water. You are soo right there. My opinion is to go to the hospital after calling your ob office and let them know your doing this and then let them know you are very miserable and can't standing it anymore. Stripping your membranes wouldn't hurt them to do it. You are at the point they will not stop your labor nor will they make you stay in labor for days on in. I would call your ob office and let them know how you feel and maybe that will push them to let you do something about it. GL and keep us updated!

There are a couple of "exercises" and movements you can do to to try and get her head in the correct position: 1) try getting on your hands and knees and doing pelvic tilts, 2) get on your knees only and then sit back on your heels, or 3) swivle your hips like you're gently doing a hula hoop in circles. I'm told these can wiggle baby down to the right place to put pressure on the cervix. GL.

I hate to say this, but unfortanately, I dont think that they will be willing to induce labor until your pa__sed your due date. Sometimes they will strip your membranes to help things along, but that doesnt necessarily mean youll go into labour either, sometimes itll cause more uncomfort rather then labor. I seriously hope that youre comfortable soon, and that your baby decides to come his/her own. ~Kristin~
