I'll probably get crucified!!! But here is what i packed... see i'm being told the hospital gives you things as well so i'm going off of what i'm told.. i dont think i should call and ask them what they GIVE you at the hospital but i am 37 weeks and just finished packing my bag last weekend... but you can never have it packed soon enough and i think the sooner you pack it the better.. and you can always change it if you want but atleast have it ready... i didn't want to wait this long but i did and luckily it was okay for me... But here is what i packed... her coming home outfit, socks, a brush incase she has hair, onesies (both long and short sleeve), hat, headband, and blankets... and a pacifier! I hear you get diapers and pacifier from the hospital so i'm going off of that.. if not it won't take much to run to the store and grab some! I do not also PLAN on being in there for very long either.. i think a day or two at the most... but i think most women pack alot more for the baby... maybe i should pack more... again i am also not sure myself what to pack... but that is all i have packed for her...

oh thanks rainbow

Like i said i have read some lists myself where people have packed WAY more than i have... so i think it really is your personal preference what you want right away or for JUST IN CASES or if you want just the necessities!!!

for yourself i would bring: a comfy nightgown/robe, a lose fitting outfit to go home it, slippers, socks, deoderant, toothbrush, makeup, pads, camera/camcorder, games or cards to play, and of course change of clothes for hubby!!

thanks Daynae79 will the brush hurt the baby? i thought the scalp will be tender

I am on my 4th baby and I have learned something new each birth. I personally packed a seperate bag with my necessities like, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, brush, lotion, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. In my other bag I packed a binky for baby because I don't know what kind they offer, going home clothes for me and baby (don't forget you will want something loose fitting for you and something loose fitting for baby due to the umbellica cord). I also packed a maternity bra, disposible b___st pads, my own underwear for going home in or while I'm in the hospital, baby blanket and receiver because I am not sure how cold or warm it will be on that day, robe, slippers and last but not least a change of clothes for daddy. I think I added everything. I may not use some of that like the b___st pads but I packed it just in case I do produce enough that I need to wear them. Oh don't forget your call list for the announcement to family and friends and I also have included a bracelet for when I b___stfeed and need to remember what b___st was last fed on. Also loose change for the vending machine in case you or your coach/partner need something to snack on. LOL I know I keep adding stuff. Hope I helped because

Try Googling for a list of things to pack! That's where I got my list of items! Our prenatal cla__s teacher recommended packing a separate labour bag, in case your hospital has you labour in a different room than you recover in. She recommended packing snacks (for you, and for hubbie) like granola bars and juice boxes, a heat pad (our hospital provides ice packs, but won't provide heating pads...in case you burn yourself. But they will let you use one if you bring your own.). I'm also packing some older pj pants and some of my own underwear. Most women recommend taking your own supply of pads, as some hospitals only provide awful bulky ones! Pack anything you want to use for labour...a favorite pillow, moisturizer (for when you can convince hubbie to give you ma__sages!), socks (because your feet can get quite cold), slippers, a comfy sweater. Ooh! The BEST advice I've gotten was to bring deoderant and mouthwash for hubbie...because our sense of smell can be really good during labour, and he's going to be hovering! lol. I also have to bring my meds, but most pregnant women don't have to worry about that! If your hubbie is going to be staying at the hospital with you the whole time, make sure you have your car seat strapped in already! I live in a very cold climate, so I'm packing blankets to pile on baby when we bring him/her home. Our hospital provides diapers for baby, but no pacifiers, so you might want to look into what your hospital does. Also, see if you can preregister...we did, and it's wonderful to know I don't have to answer all of those questions while I'm in labour! Hope these things help! Good luck! (Although, I hope for your sake you don't need that bag for at least another month!) :)

hey thanks a ton for answering it mahagen and jenice.

Our hospital doesn't provide diapers, so you should check on that. If you can the L&D I'm sure they can give you a good list of what they provide and what you need to bring yourself. And definitely don't forget a camera, and maybe a journal...I kept one during both my pregnancies.

Goldfish don't forget something for you to do too in the mean time when you are in the hospital, probably after you get settled and in your room. TV is always available but when I went to the hospital I took my crocheting and suduko book. Just a suggestion!

Most of the ladies alreay gave great and complete answers, I just wanted to add that I included a robe that fits me now in case I have to walk laps around the ward in labor so I can cover up. I also included an aromatherapy spray with a scent that is relaxing to me for labor (mint), lollipops to suck and an easy book to read.
