Its time to pack the hospital bag... For you experienced mommies, what did you really enjoy having during your hospital stay? What did you forget that you wished you had brought? What did you bring but discovered you didn't need at all? What type of freebies did you get from the hospital? What all does baby need?

I wish I had brought my own swaddling blanket and soother for baby. My hospital didn't provide a soother like some hospitals do and I could have really used it as ds cried non-stop throughout the night after he was born (he was born at 11pm). Needless to say I was exhausted from labour and also not wholely functioning from the epidural. I also wish I had brought a gown for myself. Having to get up and try and hide my bum constantly from visitors was annoying. I never used my slippers or magazines I brought with. I didn't get any freebies from the hospital. I am due June 4th with ds2, when are you due?

I'm due May 28th. Did you get your gown messy? I am considering bringing my own clothes, but if they're just going to end up getting thrown away I may just wear the hospital gown.

For myself I brought slippers, tolietries, my own pillow and blanket and movies. I brought a gown from home but only wore it when I was up and about because otherwise it would have gotten messy. I also brought snacks for myself and family for the recovery room and day after which was alot cheaper than buying food! For my daughter I packed her a sleep sack, recieving blanket, thick blanket, socks, and pacifier, and a going home outfit. I found out it was just a pain to put her in the clothes I packed while we were there because all she needed was the shirt they put her in and then she stayed swaddled in 2 recieving blankets. The nursery kept taking off whatever I put on her. FYI- when you leave the hospital be sure to ask for several pairs of the mesh panties they give you and extra pads. Those pads are fabulous for the first week or so of bleeding since they are so big and absorbable. Oh and I also brought magazines and books but I was honestly so worn out that I never touched them......as soon as you get a free moment all your going to want to do is sleep, lol. Hope I helped a little. GOOD LUCK

I am sorry if someone already commented on this but I went and bought this adorable little PJ set that I was going to wear because I was determined to look adorable! Well my only advice on that is if you want to bring your own gown or PJ's get BLACK!! I wasn't about to put the light pink ones on with the mess that comes after having the babe (sorry TMI!) BUT my hospital provided super cute gowns and robes to my surprise so i just stayed in that!!! :) OH how fun! I am excited to get ready for the hospital and I am only 17 weeks! ha! Oh the nuky is a good idea, although my hospital had one it wasn't the one I wanted my babe to have so I had my own.

I dont know about the rest of you but hospitals seem so dry to me and I really wished I had hand cream and lip balm while I was there. I also didnt bring my boppy and I exclusively b___stfed and the little flimsy hospital pillows sucked. So Ill be bringing that this time too.

don't forget your camera- camcorder -snacks for my ever hungry husband and sons, a change of clothes for you to go home including your own undies and pads. I had my toiletries for showering, lotion, lip balm, for baby I brought my own pacifier, boppy for b___stfeeding, going home outfit, 3 onesies and 2 blankets other than that I really didnt touch anything and if your dh goes home for any reason send him home with any items you aren't using or dirty clothes so that when you are discharged you won't have so much stuff to take home - I got 3 or 4 flower arrangements and it was a pain in the neck getting those home with all of the other stuff.....OH OH OH - this is a little off topic but once you get home make sure you have some of those puppy pads (they are just like the pads they are going to have you lay on at the hospital) then you don't have to worry about your couch, car seat, or anywhere else you sit that first week - I also used them in my bed at night so if I bled I wouldn't be changing my sheets all of the time. They are fairly reasonable at walmart or discount store.....Good luck ladies -

I was really glad to have my pillow, bathrobe and slippers. I didn't need much for the baby and never had time to read a magazine. Oh, chapstick because your lips can get very dry! I didn't go for any special gowns or pj's because really, you don't need them. Most hospitals give you a nice gown that opens in the front for b___stfeeding and if you have a robe, you can hide whatever you need to when you get up. You're there for such a short time anyways.

I also wish I would have brouught my own blanket for the baby. I did bring my own gown to wear after the baby was born, i would suggest something sleeveless, after the baby is born your hormones are going to be going crazy and you will be really hot. ( thats how i was anyhow)
I brought my own shampoo conditioner ( those travel size ones) gown, clothes to go home in, clothes to go home in for baby, a few movies.
i never used my robe or my slippers... i didnt want to get out of bed i was so sore.
remember to bring snacks. I had my baby at 10 pm and i hadnt eaten in over 24 hours i was starving and there was nothing to eat in the hospital. my husband had to go to BK for me!
i wouldnt bring cards or a book, for me i was too excited to do any of that.
extra batteries for your camera a must!
you dont need to bring diapers, the hospital gives them to you.
umm i think thats it. sorry its so out of order!

I took a couple of receiving blankets and onesies, an outfit for pictures, and outfit to go home in, a nightgown, a robe, slippers, a portable dvd player (: and an outfit for me to go home in. My hospital provided pacifiers, diapers, wipes, formula, etc. But the baby went through their nighties and blankets pretty frequently, so I brought a few of my own. My gown didn't get messy because I didn't start bleeding heavily until I was already home. Oh, I also brought a camera, video camera, and toiletries.

OK I started this once but didn't finish very sorry if you see the beginning twice. I am a mother 4 all naturally healthy babies. I have packed the car down having DH saying honey r u sure we need all of this to bags where I say I wish I would have brought this!. so here we go.
First off even if you have a digital camerea make sure to bring a disposible. It will be worth you $5 if your batteries go dead!. Bringing baby extra clothing was always useless, but bring 2 outfits that you wouldn't mind to have babies pictures taken in. Take an extra just incase the baby spits up on the first. You can also take the baby home in this outfit, but make the babys bag and urs different! Leave the babies in the car until delivery! Also you might find it easier to have a seperate bag for labor and post partum! Because going through a bag to find something while in labor sucks. That way also DH doesn't have that much to carry the day you all come home! So make sure you have a flexible labor plan. For labor make sure to bring chapstick, insurance card, ID, It also helps to pre register at the hospital, Bring some socks or house shoes to walk in, bring some mints they will help you not to notice hunger so much, pack your partner a light snack that is oder less for just incase, other than that bring just the things you want for your birth plan!
For postpartum, if your b___st feeding bring a nursing bra and also they make like covers so u can b___stfeed descretely they are about $10 and really usefully. I used to put it on and walk around stores brestfeeding and i don't think anyone realized what i was doing. They probably just thought i was protecting my baby from germs. this will help you feel comfortable while having visitors and if u have a boppy bring it!!!!!. bring your own hygeine, but i wouldn't worry about the extras. Bring a comfortable loosefitting outfit to go home in! Avoid blue jeans! You will be so busy with the baby you won't get that bored so don't worry about entertainment. I wouldn't bring pjs or robe if your hospital doesn't have robes just use two gowns. Also i didn't like the hospital binkis so bring your own that you will use for the baby. Bring your car seat and some blankets. Don't forget the cell it has everyones numbers in it you will want to call! You might want to bring 2 big towels (the hospitals are reallyn small) and bring only about $20 cash for emergency use. Make sure to bring your credit card or a check book for pictures! Also bring some Dermoplast ( you can get at any pharmacy) Some hospitals don't carry it, but after v____al delivery especially if you have to get st_tches its a life saver! u may want to bring your own panties that you don't mind throwing away incase you don't like the panties they give you, but they are the best to help healing! Also bring a small thing of hand sanitizer incase your hospital doesn't have it in ur room!
