I was induced.... (emergency) and they say the contractions are worse... (they gave me 2 doses of cervidil, ok two insertions of it since it is inserted into you) and they brought on contractions from hell... BUT it was for my dd safety, however i already had an induction scheduled for 2 weeks later...called a social induction (where you induce near your due date due to extreme pregnancy discomfort-i was on bedrest...long story) If you have tried the walking thing and i don't know your story maybe some s_x if you can stand it... and that isn't working you may want to talk to the dr about your options....i didn't get an epi with my induction until they decided to do the emergency c-section...(which i have heard having an induction increases your risk of needing a csection but i dunno if thats true) wow my mind is all over the place i hope you can follow what i am saying... maybe give it a few more days? i know that seems hard especially if you are in the extreme heat we are in, but maybe he is picking his perfect day, and you are sooooo close being 5cm already...maybe walk walk walk..?? since that is what i hear they always advise?? I wanted to experience a v____al birth, but since here the rule says once you have a c-section they wont risk ANY vbacs....so i will never get that experience-so my advice if it were me would be to try to wait so that you can experience it... i hope you could follow what i was saying

experince the no meds thing you want lol not the v____al birth since you already had that...phew my mind is CRAZY today...you would think i were pregnant the way i can't make any sense...hehehe

Well, I read something along the lines of the fact that before there was an option of induction -- no pregnancy lasted forever. Another thing to consider would be the fact that your due date might have been off by a few days (up to two weeks I read), maybe you ovulated late? So right now as long as the baby is still thriving and the in-utero environment hasn't become dangerous (placenta deteriorating, amniotic fluid low, e.t.c.) then I wouldn't get induced...but hey, I never made it past my due date, so I don't know how miserable you must be. Have you tried the membrane sweep yet??? Being as dilated as you are it will definitely work. I would try that first over being induced.

Maybe could get a membrane sweep tomorrow instead of induction and if nothing happens then get induced on monday?

thanks tish - I followed you. :) I ramble myself - I don't know how anyone can expect us preggos to think straight! :) I did talk to the nurse about it and they said I can change my mind tomorrow but I have to go in for the non-stress test and I could possibly have to be induced anyways. I just want to have him come when he's ready but ... tomorrow would be so nice. I think I feel guilty forcing him out. :)

fefer you poor girl you know we have all been pulling for you to go into labor on your own...the decision is yours - but since your cervix is already dilated and effaced I believe you would have a successful induction - however I can tell you first hand that contractions brought on by pitocin are very gnarly - if you think you can hold out - and your non stress test goes well then hold out for your experience - I bet your labor will go very quickly once it does start since you are already so dilated! just take your time in making your decision especially if this is your last baby...Good luck and I know myself and others will be waiting patiently for your birth story! hey ladies - I was induced with my dd and it was very successful. I had her in less than 8 hours start to finish. I just didn't like the intensity of the contractions or how quick they came - I wasn't prepared for it and got the epi at 5cm - and was 9cm 30 miuntes after I got it! :) I had a membrane sweep today at my appointment too -so far nothing, not even bleeding but the nurse said probably because I'm so thinned and ready to pop. ugh. :) I am pretty sure my due date was accurate since I know the only times I could have conceived - between us being sick and my traveling. :) I'm pretty sure the dates are right on. My mom said she was late with all 4 of us and her water never once broke on it's own. I'm just tired of all these labor like signs that come and go and don't progress!!! this guy is hanging on by his fingernails! :)

Oh man, I'm crossing my fingers for you to go tonight. I can't believe your bag of waters is still intact being 5 cm.

well I got bumped to this afternoon at least - have to call and check back in at 1pm so I might not have to worry about being induced yet. :) haha..it figures.

You've gone SO long and havent been induced yet... I dunno what I'd do. I think since you've suffered this long....maye labor is right aroudn the corner...? I know we've been saying that for almost 2 weeks now...but if he isn't in distress.... lol--- gosh I am in NO WAY saying you should suffer loner, but it would stink if you were induced and only had like 24 more hrs to go until everything happened naturally. Lol--- your comfort if you DO wait is that you're halfway there! You're labor will most likely be very short, and you're probably more likely to be able to do it without the epi!!!

hey - even though I got bumped today I could still have him!! I lost my MP or bloody show - it was pinkish. WOOHOO! My back is really aching too. Cross your fingers and toes for me! :)

aww i really hope it is coming for you, and that you get to go naturally....*fingers crossed* toes not so much kinda painful....lol

well - he didn't come yesterday and all my cramping and back pains and stuff went away overnight. :( I might have to go in today anyways - gonna go walk now and see what I can do!
