As far as I knwo Mickey - I have been told to try and hold off on any major dental work until after baby is born if possible. I knwo when Ihad my wisdom teeth taken out - it hurt liekhell and I was super drugged up! It willonly be few more weeks and if youcan hold out, that is what I would recomend. I dont thik there is much that they can give you while preggers. Check with your doc though to be sure!! Good luck!! My birthday is June 8th!! You little one picked a good time of the month!! :) CONGRATS!! :)

Well Mickey I think it may depend, I get really really icky from being put out or drugged so I actually had to have my wisdom teeth taken out with just novecaine (sp?) and I was fine. I only had 2 wisdom teeth that came in so it wasn't that bad but I wasn't in near the amount of pain as I thought I would be. I think it just depends on how you react but with that said...Can you have novecaine while PG? I heard like softbreeze said to hold off but i don't know

I got mine removed while I was pregnant and they gave me tylenol 3 for the pain. They would prefer to do it while you arent pregnant, but mine were hurting horribly bad. Hope that helps.

I was a dental a__sistant for 10 years. Would your regular dentist be doing the surgery, or are you seeing an oral surgeon? Personally, I would say take the antibiotics and wait until after the baby is born. Once you take the antibiotics you should be covered form any more infection for about 30 days. Is the infection really bad, is the tooth broken down, or is it just the tissue that is involved? Sometimes dental offices have their own agenda and want to fill holes in the schedule with little concern for what is best for you and your situation. If the tooth is just a slight bother, or irritation and the antibiotics are working then I would say wait. I would also advise that you get an oral surgeon to take the tooth out. Sometimes the regular dentist isn't the best person for the job, especially if it is a lower tooth. The uppers have a cone shaped root system and tend to pop right out after just a few minutes, lowers on the otherhand can be rather difficult, with three or four roots that can be a bit splayed, making the tooth a challenge to remove, and if you are awake at the time it can be a bit scary for the patient. I know I ramble a bit, does this answer your question?

okay I didnt read any of the other responses yet so I hope Im not just saying what everyone else already said BUT.... I had the same question awhile ago so I lookd it up and its actually pretty safe. the anesthetics they give you to numb your mouth dont go anywhere except your mouth so you dont have to worry about them hurting or otherwise effecting the baby. however, it is, or at least from what I understand, up to your OB on whether or not they think its okay to do so I would talk to your doc about it. also... if the dentist knows you are pregnant and still scheduled you for it I a__sume (I know its not good to a__sume) that the dentist knows what (s)he is doing. anyway, good luck.... OH and if you cant get them taken out yet Orajel is totally safe to use for a while lol.

okay, I read the other posts... I agree with the ladies... if its not bothering you to bad just wait.. but it is safe to do it while pregnant so don't worry :)
