Sleeping Isues With 21 Month Old

My son has never had a problem going to sleep at night... but all of a sudden he FREAKS out when we put him to sleep. We went out of the country for a couple of weeks and while we were away, he slept in the bed with us. Normally he sleeps in his own room and bed, which he has always done. Now, we do the normal bedtime routine and he will fall asleep, but if we leave the room, he really really freaks out. like banging on the door, screaming at the top of his lungs. he will go to bed after a few minutes... sometimes up to 30 minutes or so. But he continues to do this every night. I am 33 weeks pregnant and he seems to have gotten more clingy lately. Also, my dad died 3 months ago and our normal daytime routine has changed drastically. Not to mention, I have been depressed about it. Anyone have any suggestions or experience??? I feel like something is really wrong. But my DH thinks that he could have just gotten really spoiled when we were on vacation. That is a possibility, but I just don't know.

Angelinakai-My opinion is that your son isn't able to understand why he could sleep with you for a few weeks and all of a sudden now he can't. Kids this age can't graps these situational things. My son just turned 2 and is the same way, I think it is a phase like he is trying to control his schedule and doesn't want an adult telling him when he has to stop playing and go to bed. It is hard but be firm and calm and persistance is key and it will improve.
