My Grandmother on my fathers side was a twin. What is the possibility that I could have twins?

Lauren - July 24

Were any of you twin mommy's to be on clomid?

Melissa - July 24

Lauren, I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant with twins as a result of clomid. I have one daughter as well as a result of using clomid because I never ovulate on my own.

hi ladies,i am 15 wks and just found out i am having twins, and i have been showing since about 8 weeks, this is my 4th pregnancy....and boy am i tired, i could sleep all day, any suggestions, i have a 3 and a 5 year old....on how to boost my energy level....

Hi, I am also 13 weeks with twins, my second pregnancy and hardly showing in the morning. I am sure I was bigger with my first baby. I suppose you worry about everything - being too big or too small, and twice the worry for twins. I am sure we will be wishing we were small soon!!!

With regard to tiredness, I am also so exhausted (13 weeks with a 3 yr old) much more so than my first pregnancy. A friend of mine suggested accupuncture to try to boost energe levels. Otherwise just resting as much as poss. :)

I am 11 weeks no twins, but the same thing for me. I am pet_te and in the morning I am generally flat, but by night I look pregnant. I have asked alot of people and it is a sign and very normal. I can put my jeans on in the morning, and thery're snug, but I can't KEEP them on by the late afternoon or evening. It's normal.

My SIL didn't start showing until around 20 weeks with her twins. It was her first pregnancy. I would have never guessed she was carrying twins b/c she was so tiny. I think everyone is just different. Good luck!

I am currently 28 wks pregnant with twins, first pregnancy, and still people say that I'm not very big for twins which is quite annoying and can cause unnecessary worry. But I have had the ultrasounds and their is definitely two in there and they are well and that is all that matters! At 13 weeks I wasn't showing too much, I really wouldn't worry at all.

Hi Heather, I was reading through so many stories about bloating and bigger bellies at night. But now I feel more at ease, it's true I feel bigger at night, but the past two days in the morning, I really look smaller. It scared me, and at night I get a little bigger but generally less than I was used to seeing the weeks prior.

my grandmother had two sets of fraternal twins and my father is one of them. my husband and i are trying to get pregnant for the 3rd time. it has always been a dream of mine to have twins without having to go through any a__sistance. am i capable of having twins?

Twins4Me09 - December 10

marblu-it's always a possibility. Twins don't run on either side for me, but I'm definitely carrying twins. I've heard that it's more common for twins to run down the maternal side than paternal, but anything could happen. I've seen several posts from 'natural' twin moms/moms-to-be, and the stories vary greatly...some had twins everywhere in their family(s), some, like me, had the first set of twins in both families (maternal/paternal).

June09 - December 22

Twins, fraternal at least, tend to run on the maternal side because a hyperovulation gene is inherited which causes the female to ovulate more than 1 egg at once. If twins are seen on the paternal side, the gene could have been inherited by the father, but of course is silenced because he does not ovulate. This is also why twins can be thought to skip a generation, because if the woman inherits the gene from her father, he obviously was not affected by it. So, a man with a family history of twins is not more likely to father twins himself, however his daughter could be likely.

I am currently 13 weeks pregnant with twins in my first pregnancy I have been showing since I was about 6 weeks after reading some of the post in this discussion it appears I am showing early. Does this mean I will have big babies?

twinsmichelle - September 16

this is #3 and 4 for me. i'm over 13 wks, and not showing yet though i can relate to feeling and looking far more bloated at night.
