I am going for a 4D ultrasound this afternoon. I am 10wks pregnant. One of my twins stopped developing around 8weeks. I am curious and nervous as to what I will see on the screen. Am I still going to see the other baby? Will it look like a baby? or will it already be reabsorbed... Please help!

I'm sorry for you loss. I also lost a twin to VTS at 11 weeks. I went for an u/s about 2 weeks later and they said they didn't see anything. Maybe they did and didn't want to tell me. Even so, a 4D u/s almost looks like a liquid metal and I'm sure that what they will show you and take photos of will be of the thriving little one and anything else would be hard to identify to the untrained eye. Good luck and I hope you can share you pictures with us!

I am so sorry, my heart goes out to you. I'm not sure how I would have handled that had I been in your position. Please enjoy seeing you little healthy baby heartbeat. Try & focus just on that.

Hey ladies, thank you for your kind words. I went yesterday, and as it turns out, the tech that does the 4d scans wasn't in. She had to leave for a family emergancy. I had a reg 2d instead. My doc still wants a 4d. It is rescheduled for the 17th of april. The demised embryo was not visible. I am almost relieved. The healthy baby was kicking and squirming and bouncing all around. It was so cute. his/her heart rate was a whopping 171bmp! :) I will keep you updated when I have the 4d. Again, thank you. :)

I'm so glad to hear the that you had a good experience yesturday even if you didn't get the whole deal. How fun is it to see the squirmy one! There is an old wives tale that states the faster the heartrate the better the chances are of it being a girl. I don't know much I'ld read into that though. Will you find out the s_x or ahve it be a surprise?

I have always heard that as well. It proved true w/ my daughter. Her heart rate always stayed around the 165 mark. My mother is a retired OB nurse, and she said that boys USUALLY have heart rates under 150. She started keeping record of it in the 80's just to see what happened, and 8 out of 10 times, if the heart rate was consistantly OVER 150, it was a girl

My twins heart rates were always so far apart & sure enough 1 boy, 1 girl! I'll continue to keep you & you little one in my thoughts & prayers. I'm sure SHE or he will be your new shinning star! How old is you daughter?

MrsShelton Im happy to hear the other twin is doing well :) Corona about the heartbeats its a weird thing, both my boys were 150-155 and my daughter was 125. this pregnancy I have a 60-70% chance its a boy, I swear its a girl but the heartbeat went from a steady 150-160 to 120-140 so only time will tell lol. I love the old wives tale as some turn out to be very accurate for some ladies.
