In my family we have 8 sets of twins...I'm now 5 wks pregnant. I went in for my first blood test at 2 1/2- 3 wks and my hcg level was at 240. I went in for my second blood test 5 days later, and my hcg level was at 2273....I was only 4 wks / 2 days....can that be possible twins?? Not sure if that's a high hcg level at 4 wks / 2 days?? Anyone??

I'm expecting twins and I had a blood test at 4 weeks 1 day and 4 weeks 3 days and my #'s were 1440 and 2880. You could be expecting them. Good luck!

I read that the HCG levels can vary WIDELY, but they normally double every 2 or 3 days. If they are doubling faster than that, it could indicate twins. So in 5 days in a normal pregnancy it would double twice roughly, bringing it to around 1000 (first double 240 to 480, then double that to 960). So the doubling rate does seem a little bit high. There are other factors involved too, and nothing is sure, but there might be a chance of twins.
