I share this story with many of you. I am 8-weeks, working and interview for better paying job yesterday. The only thing is I am wondering if I should tell them I am pregant once an offer is made. My current employer also does not know since I fear if i tell them, I may not be treated so well. I am also not over with my 1-year at this firm. 1-year is up in July. So do I tell current emplyer, do I tell future employer if offer is made. I tell you it is not an easy decision. Help! ?

That is a tough one. I guess I wouldn't tell anyone until my first trimester is over with. Good luck!

Do NOT tell them your pregnant. I had this issue with my second son! Although it is illegal to turn you down for a job, they aren't exactly going to tell you that they are turning you down. You can always tell them later that you didn't know you were pregnant! There were many jobs that I was turned down for and I feel that it was because I was pregnant. I actually had one employer as me if I planned on having an more kids. (he knew I had one and didn't know I was pregnant)... This is actually the employer that ended up hiring me (I told him I didn't not plan on having more kids). He did accuse me of lieing to him about wanting to build a family.. He actually admitted that they and most employers actually want to hire older women who are stable in their marriage and have either teens or grown children because they don't have to worry about temps during maternity leave and people leaving for kids Dr.s apts often. He also admited to me that he received alot of flack from corporate for hiring such a young girls (I was the executive a__st and only 22) expecially after I had to take off for OB appts. (my doctor only did my type of OB appt on Monday and Thursday mornings!) He claimed that they were family oriented but they were not. Anyway the thing is... I would NOT have gotten that job had I told him I was pregnant. As mad as he was though and as horribly as he treated me thereafter he still couldnt fire me because I was pregnant. Hopefully you find a better boss, that wont be so cold. Needles to say I let them think I was coming back the entire time I was on maternity leave and then I quit the day I was supposed to return. Did it on purpose. They were intentionally cruel to me during my pregnancy, but at least I had a job and it paid twice as much as any other position in the area. Sometimes you have to lie to make it in this world. Sad huh?
