Are Twins More Common Now

I was talking with my mum on the phone tonight about the fact dh and i are going to start TTC soon and she said there was a show on TV recentley (in Australia) that said twins are becoming more and more common and DR dont know why. She said they quoted stats like 1 in 75 pregnancys result in twins. We have heard of 3 couples who are all expecting twins and none of them have any in the family so i was wondering how many others out there are having twins and dont have twins in the family or if anyone else saw the show and can remember more of what they said. Mum couldnt remember what show it was ( for people in Australia im guessing Today tongiht or A current affair).

i would imagine that the ratio of twin births are in part to be contributed to the use of fertility drugs .i think i saw that show too.
