I've been carrying my ds around who is 16 mo. and about 25 lbs. I mean not a lot but have been carrying him some what throughout my entire pregnancy (I'm 15 weeks) and someone alarmed me that seperation of the placenta could happen if I continue to hold him. I'm so scared right now. Is anyone else in my boat with a toddler and multiples?? And if so, have you been holding your dc? thanks.

When I was pregnant with my twins (now 3 months old) I had 5 other kids to take care of including a year old toddler. I lugged around plenty. I wish people would keep horror stories and alarming advice to themselves. Your doctor will let you know if you need to be restricted, but if you have a healthy pregnancy, there shouls be no problem in lifting your son. Relax and enjoy your pregnancy. I know it is hard, I was neurotic about EVERYTHING when I was pregnant, but now I see that it was just my hormones in overdrive, I see things in such a different perspective now!

I think lifting a child is a little different than lifting a heavy box or some other inanimate object even if the weight is the same. When you pick up a kid they sort of 'help' you by holding on. You don't need to strain as much as when lifting a box of papers or something. JMO. Like the other ladies said, if you need to restrict your activities the doc will tell you. You can even bring it up to them if it makes you nervous and they can give you some rea__surance as to what you should/shouldn't do.

I think it comes down to this. If your used to carrying around your ds then its not something NEW that your body will need to get used to. And I agree, I wish ppl would keep their horror stories to themselves, I want to hear some of the things that could go wrong but come on..lol I have a 15mo old that Im lugging around, she only weighs about 18-20lbs but still. I also carry my 3yr old who weight 25lbs. Not for long periods of time only cause it kills my back. But I think you should do what you FEEL comfy doing, if it HURTS, stop. Your dr knows you have a ds and if he's not said anything I wouldnt worry too much. I agree that the bigger we get the harder it may become for us to pack em around, but till then, don't worry about it..I think if your placenta is going to come loose its not because of that. Deep breath girl..lol
