How Often Do You See Your Dr

Hi everyone, I am 35 weeks pregnant with twins and haven't seen my actual Dr. since I was 30 weeks. Instead he sends me to the hospital for non stress tests weekly and to have an ultrasound every 3 weeks. Is this normal? It seems like I saw him a lot more for my singleton pregnancy than I do now. Don't get me wrong I don't like going to the Dr's but I'm just a bit more concerned this time. It seems like every time I go to the hospital for my tests I get a different nurse and each one seems surprised that my Dr. hasn't seen me for so long. They don't weigh me unless I ask them to, I never pee in a cup, they don't measure the size of my uterus, and I haven't had any pelvic exams yet. Maybe I'm just freaking out to much because I'm nervous, what do you think?

That does seem a little unusual considering you're having twins. Even if you're not having complications it is a higher-risk pregnancy. NST's and u/s every 3 weeks sound normal at that stage, but I would think he would be checking your urine for protein, keeping tabs on your blood pressure, and making sure your weight is on track. The things I would be most concerned with is the blood pressure and urine tests not being done, If you're getting u/s every 3 weeks they can see that the babies are growing properly but towards the end of a twin pregnancy preeclampsia can be an issue (at least this is what my doc told me at the end of my pregnancy). I think you should call your doc and express your concerns. You should never be uncomfortable with the level of care that you're receiving.

Sorry about that, my computer has a mind of it's own this morning. What I was trying to say was that you should be seeing your doc on a weekly basis at this stage with twins, since 36 weeks is considered full term for twins, you are technically 1 week away from your due date. In addition to what freebird suggests, you should also be examined at this stage to check your cervix and to see if you are dilated at all. Don't be afraid to insist on seeing your doctor, they are not working for free. Good luck.

Mama4, I am actually just behind you, I am now 33 weeks. I see my doctor every 2 weeks, but in 2 week, when I am 35 weeks, he is pushing it up to every week. At each visit they check my urine, measure my stomach and do a quick ultrasound to check the fluid levels and heart beats. (My doc is not comfortable with a doppler, because it's impossible to really tell what you are hearing). In addition to this, he also sends me every 5-6 weeks for a level 2 ultrasound. Finally, he also informed me that when I am on a weekly visit to the doc, he plans to examine me every time, to check the cervix and if I am dilated. I know that this sounds like an awful lot, but my doctor in actual fact is not an alarmist, I believe this is pretty standard with multiple pregnancies. Let us know what happens.
