I heard through a medical center nurse that the stats have not been changes in the last several years on clomid and the twining rates... but that it is actually much higher then previously stated. They have aprox. 80% of thier pregnancies in the NICU being produced from clomid trials.
That is something to think on .

I believe it. My twins were born healthy but the nurses couldn't get over their sizes. They were boasting about the "big twins" and telling me what a great job I did. Another twin mom was in the next room and her babies were in the NICU. They weighed 3 or 4 lbs each.

Well just because her twins were in the NICU doesnt mean they were a product of clomid, right? I know triplet mothers whose kids never needed to go to the NICU.

I didn't say that she was on clomid. I'm stating that in this case between two sets of twins and 1 set ends up in NICU (50%) is shows how more common it is. With the nurses shocked that my twins were average size shows that this doesn't happen often. With clomid and other fertility treatments quadrupling the rates of multiples, it doesn't surprise me that the results would be 80%. I just wish the ladies on here that don't need to take this and do without their DR's knowledge or approval solely for the purpose of having multiples would see that they might be asking for very sick babies or sadly, picking out a tombstone with Winnie the Pooh on it.

The Nicu nurse that I talked with did say that it is mainly the clomid babies as a result of the high multiples in the NICU as well as the nursery. She said that it is also a result of other online as well as prescribed fertility drugs that many are using now ... That isnt to say that all multiples are born with problems. There are many that are born very healthy as well. The point I was trying to make here is that aprox. 80% or more of the multiples bring born at this particular hospital anyway are a result of clomid or other fertility drugs ... but as this nurse said she sees it more from clomid use then any other now a days.
