I believe Metformin is always taken daily for infertility treatment, unless of course your doctor has other orders. I know it's taken daily for insulin-resistant diabetes treatment. I have PCOS and was put on Metformin a couple years ago to help me ovulate, and I took it daily. (I can't remember if I took it once a day or twice a day, but I know it was a fairly low dose.) My doctor prescribed it and I started taking it right away. I didn't have to wait for AF or any particular time in my cycle. At the time, I hadn't ovulated or had AF in several months, and it made me ovulate almost immediately. Two weeks after starting it, I ovulated, and two weeks later I confirmed my pregnancy - no joke. I also considered taking Clomid, but decided against it for various reasons. I have a family history of twins, and I also have an older child who was born prematurely due to a placental abruption and I was concerned that if I had trouble carrying one baby to full term, how could I do that with multiples. That's why we decided against Clomid and went with Metformin since it didn't have the multiple pregnancy risk that Clomid has. Worked like a charm! Good luck to you!
