Just a curious question, I'm about 8 weeks, my first appointment is tomorrow. My husbands grandmother is a twin. Now I've heard a lot of rumors about twins and multiples. That it skips generations, or that it's only on the mother's or female's side...This is our first pregnancy, and we conceived naturally, so.....What do you think the chances of me being pregnant with twins would be?

it's so hard to tell - I always thought that twins were only carried by older women, but I am 23 and carrying them. I conceived naturally as well. I have also heard that it is just from the mothers side as well, however. So it's hard to predict your chances, but I'll just say this: you never know!! GL!

Fraternal twins are only pa__sed on from mother to daughterm not father to daughter, so if there are twins on your mom's side, you may have more of a chance of having twins yourself. I also used to think that twins skipped generations, but I recently found out that that is a myth. Normal chances for having twins are 1 in 90. If you are a fraternal twin, or if your family on your mom's side has a history of twins, your odds will be increased. Of course there are other factors such as age, weight, etc. as well. Good luck to you though!
