Twins On The Job

I just found out that I am having twins. I am six weeks pregant. This is my second pregancy, I have a 7-year old son (naturally). This pregancy is a result of IVF. We'll I just started this new job about 8 months ago and am afraid that if i tell them that I am pregant before the 12-months (a year on the job). I may not be aroubd for the 3-month FMLA leave. You know the companies policy is you will get FMLA leave with job protected only after 1-year or 1,250 hours. Im a little concern that if i tell my supervisors , she may not treat me the same anymore. It is a private firm. Help, pregant with twins and very worried!!!

I'm afraid that I'm no help. Things are a bit different here in Canada. I wish you the best though! Congrats on the succes of the IVF!

Grats...I'm 9.5 weeks pregnant with triplets right now. I am just switching academic jobs so I had to tell my new employer because they're setting up the course schedule for next year and I had to let them know that I was not going to be doing much in the fall, lol! I think you're right on...the only thing is I think you will be in maternity clothes and showing before the three months is up. But it's your choice whether to say anything :D No one can fire you because you are pregnant, however. But it might make you feel better to wait.

Well I'm very lucky, my employer has gone through 2 pg so far and this will be my 3rd since working for them. Granted its just the local YMCA but still..You might be surprised at their reaction. If this is your first pg you could probably hide it for a while. This is my 6th pg and there's no way i can hide it..lol GL to you..I hope things work out for you.

Thanks to all of you for your response and words of encouragement. I heard the heartbeats this morning. It was incredible. I very much want to tell my employer but am not sure how they may react. Thanks for the words of luck, I need it.

We'll on Friday May 11. I was terminated from work. I told my supervisor on Thursday and on Friday I was given a termination letter. Of course, the letter states its because the job was slow and my skills did not match what there were looking for but unfortunately that is lie. Now I am fighting with them to get disability insurance approved. It seems that the short term disability that i have through my employer is only active when I am on the payroll. I am so upset and so hurt and really can't believe this but what can I do?

Did you ever get a review from them? If it was positive I'd definitely contact a lawyer. The timing is just too freaky.

Gogo, i got a great review on my six months review. i was scheduled for my one year review in July but was dismissed last week. I know there are going to say its because its slow but we the real truth. Sad how few rights pregnant women have and my health insurance is in jeopardy.
