They HCG trigger is used to trigger ovulation and the egg(s) to be released. In my case for IUI it is used 36 hours before the scheduled procedure. Hope that helps.

I did my first IUI without meds or the trigger and it failed. The second and third one I was on clomid 50mg and then 100mg and did double trigger shots because I have a short luteal phase as well. The first HCG shot was to make me ovulate in 36 hours and then do the IUI. The second trigger was to try to lengthen my luteal phase. I worked and my luteal phase is right where it's supposed to be now. So far I haven't had any luck but I know that I am getting closer to fixing whatever the problem is!! Good luck to you.

So then maybe the HCG trigger would be an option as well as a help sence I have a short lutheal phase as well as the PCOS....?
It sounds as though a lot of women receive the HCG trigger for short lutheal phases only, wihtout any problem in the ovulating department.
