I was recently diagnosed with pcos even though I don't have cyst on my ovaries. I do acquire some of the syptoms. I have hypothyroidism as well I have a slow metabolism. I have been married for 7 years. I have been trying to conceived for about 8 years with my hubby. I went to my doc and she gave 88mg of synthroid for my thyroid condition. 500 mg of metfromin and 50 mg of clomid. I have also been taking vitamin c tablets as well as 400 mg of folic acid daily. With all this going on I hope and pray I have a baby soon. I did research on the web and found out if your trying to get pregnant it is best to take folic acid a month before you start trying this help prepare the body for getting pregnant and it also helps prevent a huge amount of birth defects. Also taking vitamin c while on clomid increases your chance of conceiving. Also I learned that vitamin c helps neutralizes cigarette chemicals in sperm, decrease the amount of clumping and abnormal shape sperm, it helps sperm count, motility and viabilty. Thats why I have my hubby take multy-V daily and 500mg of vitamin c because is a smoker he is trying to slack off but I don't know if he will but I have a little more confidence thanks to my research on vitamin c. also b- 12 and zinc selenium are all sperm boosters. So ladies if you and your man are not taking vitamins you very well should be. This can help out alot. I am keeping my fingers cross that I will conceive within the next few months. I will keep posting and letting you know my condition. I take clomid days 5-9. I also had took provera to induce my cycle I havent had one since May. I am very irregular. hopefully all will be well. I enjoy reading the forums. They are very inspiring.

Hi :) I was diagnosed with PCOS 15 years ago. I am 32 now. 3 1/2 years ago I was put on 1500 mg of Metformin to jump start my periods. I got pregnant 3 weeks later!! We now have a 2 1/2 year old son and are trying for our second. I have been on 2500 mg of Metformin along with 8 mg of Avandia for well over a year with no luck. I started Clomid (100 mg) on days 3-7 and had a day 12 follicle scan on the 23rd of this month. Two follicles are present one measuring 16.5, and the other 16.3. I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is any truth to the idea that Metformin along with Clomid gives a higher rate of twins. I have my next follicle scan on Monday the 27th (day 16.) Not really sure what to expect :)

just wanted to let everyone know my success story. I miscarried in 09/06 at 6 weeks and then in 03/07 at 5 weeks. I was on clomid for 2 cycles on days 5-9. I just had ultrasound and confirmed that I am pregnant with twins. I am just hoping that everything goes well this time. I also have two girls ages 5 and 2. Does anyone have a similar story where they had successful babies.

it is best NOT to take more than the recommended prenatal vitamin c. More than the recommended dose may cause your cerival mucous to dry out. I believe about 60 mg a day is sufficent but the case differs in men between 500- 1000 daily doubles and triples sperm mobility, approve abnormal sperms and doubles sperm count within 1-2 months alone. I thought I should clear this up for women who may have read my previous forum. Good luck to all.

For those women taking Metformin for PCOS, I'm sharing information I got from my Dr. in Dec.. Should you get pregnant, DO NOT STOP TAKING YOUR METFORMIN. Research now shows that women who discontinue using Metformin in their first trimester have a greater risk of miscarriage. I was advised three years ago to stop taking it once I conceived. Now I am told to continue taking it throughout the first trimester. Just wanted to share with you :)

Hi Vij, Yes, Metformin is taken every day. I have been taking it for 3 1/2 years now. I started at 1500 mg/day and am now at 2500 mg/day. It is primarily a diabetic drug (it helps regulate blood sugars) however, more doctors are discovering its use for PCOS. I started a period after I began taking it. Previously, I would rarely have one. Now it is basically every other month or so. However, Dr. and I decided to start Clomid because ovulation was so inconsistent. That was only for five days. Hope this helped :)

100 mg first round of clomid. did days 1-5. ovulated 3 days later. still in 2ww so i will let you know what happens.

geewife1 - September 3

I am having trouble finding out if I ovulated or not. I finished my 1st round of clomid on the 27th of aug. I believe you supposed to o between 5-12 days after last pill. I have these cramping pains like the ones you get when your AF is coming on. I know its not AF so is it ovulation I wonder? I brought an opk test but when I opened it and used them I then realized they were two months expired ( no wonder they were on sale for cheap)! I never got a positve opk it strange but the closer i tested to my o date the ligher the lines became instead of darker. This is when I realized I had an expired test. I also heard it is hard to predict o with opk test when you have pcos(which I have) not to mention using expired ones. So my husband and I have been making love alot I can't pinpoint o but I can make love on the days I am likely to o days 5-12 wish me luck. Then of course comes the 2 week wait urgggg.....

I think that I will invest in a fertiltiy monitor instead of those opk. Once I have a bad experience with something I usually look for a better alternative. The Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor can inform most women of an extra 1 - 5 days of High Fertility prior to their Peak Fertility days. This means that you know all the days on which having intercourse is most likely to lead to conception. opk only give you 2 peak days. I did some research on the fertlity monitor I think is better. This my opinion though. Good luck to all.
