Fraternal Twin

wife of a twin - December 1

My husband is a fraternal twin and I was wondering if you knew what the chances are of me having twins while on scipt clomid at 100 a day? I have normal ovu, but not normal periods. Anyway , I have heard that it doesnt matter how many twins are on his side if they arent on my side then it doesnt count . Is that true?

yes - December 1

That is true. Twins come about from your eggs. Fraternal twins run on the maternal side of the woman's family (dropping more than 1 egg a month). His sperm doesn't affect it at all if the eggs are there. KWIM

You really should spend some time doing a little research first.. Wether or not your husband is a twin has nothing to do with wether or not you have twins.. twins are on MOM's side... either mom releases 2 eggs, or one of the eggs mom releases splits after fertilization...

Thank you. I appreciate the insight. Your right by the way ... I really do need to do some research on this .

Sorry, typo - December 1

Original answer should read: His sperm doesn't affect it at all if the eggs AREN'T there.

just to clarify something the second poster wrote "fraternal twins run on the maternal side of the woman's family"....this is not completely true -- history of twinning on the woman's maternal and/or paternal side of the family counts. While men who carry the twin "gene" cannot contribute to getting a woman pregnant with twins...they can certainly pa__s down the hyperovulation trait to their children. If your husband is a fraternal twin...any daughters you have with him will have higher than normal odds of conceiving twins. HTH
