i was also on metformin both pregnancies.
i started out on 50mg of clomid with my son and ended up at 100.
With my daughter, we started at 100 and ended at 150 with metformin and IUI.
My friend just delieverd twins on Monday and she was on 50mg of clomid. She never had an ultrasound to check HOW MANY follicles. When she went in for an ultrasound to confirm preg, there were 3 sacs. (OH MY). Only 2 took and she had 2 girls this past monday. However, twins are all over her family.
All you need is ONE good follicle. :)
I'll be thinking about you. Good luck.

So, tell me if you will start taking on the 5th day or what? I will take on my 5th day but I really dont understand how it works.

i am so so sorry for both of your losses. i can't even imagine what it has been like for you. my deepest sympathy.
Please be VERY careful with unprescribed medicine such as clomid. there are serious serious risks to this. i am not here to judge you---god knows how badly you want more babies, i am simply urging you not to do it that way. you could take something that could potentially be harmful to you if you dont know the exact origin of the medication.
i hope things work out for you and I hope you both have beautiful healthy babies to come.
take care

one more thing....
when you take clomid you should be monitored by a Dr. they should be doing ultrasounds on you each month if you DON'T conceive to make sure your ovaries are not overstimulated and rupture.
if your ovaries are hyperstimulated and you take clomid the following cycle, you can really get hurt and possibly ruin your ability to get pregnant again. Please just be careful.

Hello everyone, I had a miscarriage in 2005 due to fibroid tumors destorting my uterus. After three years of trying off and on, I decided to go to an infertility doctor. She wants me to try 100mg Clomid on days 5-9. I start Nov. 1, 08. I am so afraid that the fibroids will cause another miscarriage. Has anyone experienced this?

Aloha from Kaua'i, Hawaii...thank u so much for keeping this thread alive...I've read most of the posts and have gained a wealth of information. I'm about to start my 3rd cycle of Clomid (up to 100 mg) on days 4-9 (beddin on 12, 14 & 16) and recently increased to 1500 mg of Metformin/day. My husband and I have been ttc for 2 years. I have 2 girls, 11 & 8, from a previous marriage but my husband doesn't have any of his own (although he treats my girls like they were). I just turned 30 and he's 29 and anxiously wanting to get pregnant. After having my 8 yo, I had a IUD (Copper T) which I never had any problems with. It was only after I removed it that my cycles went crazy. I did have a cyst removed from my left ovary as well as a laporoscopy and my hubby has had a s____n a___lysis that was a little low but nothing to worry about. I've been noticing an increase in the number of twin births on my little island and we definitely wouldn't mind twins one bit. But nonetheless we just want a healthy baby....thank u all for sharing and I wish you many baby blessings!!!!

Hello everyone!!! If anyone is still left, lol... I know this thread is terribly old, but I enjoyed reading everyone’s stories. All 12 pages!!! I am 24 years old now, soon to be 25 in April. At the young age of 17, I developed endometriosis, which I had to have a laparoscopy to discover. After having the endometriosis, I was told that I wouldn’t be able to conceive. In April 2004, five days before my B-Day I got married to my hubby. 25 days after being married I found out I was two weeks pregnant. So I got pregnant in April, but didn’t find out until May the next month. Funny thing, they kept trying to tell me I was over four months pregnant, but I was only two weeks. I hadn’t had a period that year in four months. Our beautiful son will be four years old in two weeks
A couple weeks ago, I was told I had PCOS. I only have one period a year, facial hair, skin tags on my neck, discolored skin, you name it I have it, lol… Three years my husband and I have been trying to conceive; now, we know the reason behind why we couldn’t after all these years. I have my first appt. with my OBGYN on Jan. 19th. I honestly don’t know what he will say or do, but it seems like its forever away (the appt.). My husband is getting ready to do his second tour in Iraq. He leaves out in May. I really want to have my weight loss surgery, but at the same time, I want to have another child. Everyone in my family tells me that I should try to conceive before having my weight loss surgery. Sorry for the long story, but my question is:::: FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE HAD PCOS, DID YOU HAVE TO LOOSE THE WEIGHT BEFORE YOUR DOCTOR WOULD START YOU ON CLOMID??? I know the doctor who referred me to my OBGYN suggested metformin also. Does anyone know if Tri-Care will pay for CLOMID??? What types of insurance have some of you used? Thanks to all…

Acamden> I also have pcos. Im also overweight. My doctor did not make me loose weight before putting me on clomid but it probably would only help. Clomid isn't exspensive. It is one of the most affordable fertility drugs out there. I don't think insurance pays for it but the drug isn't the question. I am wondering if insurance would cover a pregnancy conceived using clomid. Insurance companies are funny. They look for red flags like clomid and immediately think multiple birth, lots of hospital stays....too much money. I need to really look into that myself. Goood luck to you and your journey to conceive with pcos.

I took clomid for my 1st pregnancy in 2003. It worked wonders and we conceived the 3rd month of trying. We now have a wonderful 4 year old boy, and are trying to conceive our 2nd. Unfortunately, this time around the clomid isn't working and we were referred to a reproductive Endocrinologist. Never once did my doc say I had to lose weight before they would give it to me.
Also, my insurance covered the meds, my hospital stay, and my child's stay - which was 70 days in the NICU due to HELLP Syndrome/Pre-eclampsia. Talk it over with your insurance company before you start!!
