Hi Keya, I wanted to say hello...it's been a while. I hope your doing well? I was wondering why your going straight to IVF? Was there some other factor involved with you and getting pregnant? I do wish you the best in what ever is to come. Merry Christmas Keya! Love~Teneal

Hey Tenk I told my doctor that the trying to concieve part took a toll on me and that I want to try again but I want to know the DH soldiers got thur. I had been trying to get pregnant for a while then we tried clomid for two months got pregnant and you know the rest. I told my doctor I don't want to wait that long so this is my last try and if we do IVF it will make my last try chances better. You women r so strong to keep trying after many losses and attempts I just do it again.

Well Keya, i do wish you the best of luck with the IVF and your little beans to be. Please keep us informed so that we all know how your doing. I am today 10dpo and got a BFN today. It might still be too early, but i have an appointment in the morning with my OB and he is going to do a beta to check for sure as well as talk about the clomid with me. Since he agreed to follow me on it this time around. Oh and DH agreed to let me take it again too. I was so shocked. i can't wait for your outcome. My friend on another thread got pregnant off her first try at IVF. GL ~Teneal

Hi ladies, i just wanted to share my story with you. We were ttc for 2 years and we were told that IVF ICSI was our only hope since DH counts were only in the low 2-6 million range. We begged for a chance at IUI and we got pg our first try, We also used gonal f with it without them knowing but hey, it still worked. Iam now 10 weeks!!

Hi Keya,
We tried for 6 years (everything in the book) before resorting to IVF with ICSI. I have extreme PCOS and DH has 0 motility. It was a double whammy for us, on both sides. I had read/heard such horror stories about the injections/medications and was so terrified when we started. I have to say when it was all said and done with, DH and I both said several times "Gosh, what was the big deal?? That wasn't too bad!" LOL! The process itself wasn't bad, for us anyhow. Yea, there were days I asked why me, why am IIIII having to do this?, but it was nowhere near what I thought it was going to be. I've never been one that was scared of needles/blood so that part wasn't a big deal for me. I was mainly worried about the effects of the meds, especially since I have battled depression most of my life. I had no problems with them (no mood swings, etc.), other than a little weight gain (which is well worth it to have babies!). The most stressful part for us was the mid-cycle monitoring, as we had a 1.5 hour drive each way to the fertility clinic, EVERY DAY in heavy traffic. My DH and I did the ENTIRE process together (he went to EVERY single appt) and it made it so much easier on both of us, not to mention we really bonded and it made us closer after going through it together. Since he was always at the appointments, he knew exactly what was going on, what I was going through, and it made communication between us easier. I really felt supported since he stayed so involved with the whole process. I had heard of couples getting divorced over it, but we did it together and it brought us closer and I feel like we can get through ANYTHING now after that! IVF worked 1st round for us, I'm 35 weeks with boy/girl twins and so far, the babies are healthy. We know we are lucky and blessed, I could see where it could get stressful having to go through the IVF process more than once with disappointment in the end. I did hyper-stimulate (produced too many folicles) so I had to be monitored every day and stay on bedrest to prevent twisting of my ovaries, but otherwise we had no complications during IVF. My advice is to 1. have a good R.E./Dr. you feel comfortable talking to. Our Dr. was Harvard educated, but yet preferred we called her by her first name and treated us like friends. She was awsome! 2. get medical FACTS from your dr directly, don't do a lot of reading on the internet, etc and get all the horror stories. It will just scare you and everyone is different. I think we often read too much into things. Stick with the facts so you're informed. 3. Make sure you and your DH are always on the same page, have the same goals and expectations for IVF, communicate through it, and support each other. 4. Be realistic with your expectations. Yes, you'll have bad days with it. It may or may not work, be prepared to handle either outcome mentally, but stay positive through the process. 5. Have your finances squared away before you even walk in the door, including your financial plan if it doesn't work the first time. That's a huge stress off of you both if you don't have to worry about finances DURING the process. 6. If you have to go to work through it (I didn't, thankfully!), make sure your boss knows/supports what your going through. You will probably have to miss some days/be late, etc. for treatment. and 7. Have a plan B. How many times are you willing to try? When is enough, enough? What is your plan if it doesn't work? Are you ready to cope with having multiples should it arise? Have all this planned before you even start, so you don' t have unexpected surprises during, adding to the stress, or have to make decisions when your frazzled. It is so well worth it all, and you will be a stronger person because of it in the end! Not to mention, I think it's going to make us better parents, being made to wait and work for our children from the beginning, we already appreciate them so much!
I wish you the best!
Tracie

Keya, thank you, and I'm glad your staying around. I would have been so upset if I didn't come back after my miscarriage. It's like I need to be able to talk to someone about it because DH has made it very clear that he wants another child but doesn't want to know about any other aspect of what I'm doing. LOL. I hope your right about the babies for us....I think that is just what we need. I did take it this time starting on day 3 and today is day 3 of it so day 5 of my cycle, and still taking 100mg of it. I feel ok this time *SO FAR* and let's just hope it keeps up. HeHe. Now, if/when you do the IVF you must let me know. I told you before that a friend of mine on another thread got a BFP on her first round. You can look her up (she did miscarry, but sometimes that what we go thru) and she can tell you lots of things about it too. She is very sweet and kind and would probably answer any questions you may have. On the Trying to Conceive thread, under January IVF'ers and her name is Mega. Keep us posted on your progress ok.

Update went in to make sure everything was okay and the Dr. found a cyst and they put me on birth control for 21 days. I will then go for U/S Jan 30 to see if it's gone and if it is with my next cycle hopefully in Feb I can start my clomid followed by an IUI. So I'm on pause right now and every one around me is getting pregnant my best friend, my sister in-law, two of my cousins and two friends of the family. They r really making me sick with all their great news :>) just joking I'm just really jealous, can't wait for my turn.

Hi Keya, I'm sorry that every one around you is getting pregnant. It always seems like, when you want something so badly that everyone gets it but you. I think that the clomid with IUI is exactly what you need. Taking BC for 21 days doesn't seem like much fun, but the ending result is what you want, and it'll be a happy one for you I'm sure. It's funny b/c I've had several people tell me that they think I'm going to have more than one when/if I get pregnant. I even had a lady go as far as to tell me it/they will be boys. I hope everyone is right. Poor DH is getting tired of BD'ing so much...he said he feels like his boys are drained, but he's being such a trooper and doing it anyway. I'm on CD 15 and still have not had a +++ OPK yet and my temps don't support O either. So hopefully by day 18 which is Monday i will O and be in the 2ww. Good luck to you and please keep me updated. ~Teneal

Hi Mama Keya!
I am also looking towards starting IVF treatments this January. I was in on 1/13 and they found a cyst. They put me on birthcontrol pills and I have to go in on the 22 for an u/s. If all looks well I will begin injections on the 28th and hopefully do egg retrieval and transfer early to mid February. How large was your cyst? I have a 19 on my right side. A couple months back i had 3 on my left all measuring about 8 cm. Thankfully those have gone down but now some are poping up on the other side. Have you told anyone at work yet? I have this fantasy that no one needs to know about it but I have a feeling I will need to eventually say something. Well good luck to you and your cyst! I hope it goes down quickly for you.

Hi bahootie I have a 5 cm cyst on my right side and I take my last BCP on the 29 and then I have a apt already schedule for the 30th for an U/S and hopefully by then my cyst will be gone then I'll get my prescription for more clomid but a higher dosage. Then AF should start on or around Feb 5, followed by an IUI. I know u said your going for IVF but I don't mind being your cyber support/friend. Oh and I don't work I'm a stay at home mom/wife. I don't think u have to say anything to your job now wait till you get pregnant, and if you have to take off make up a excuse if u have to. So do u have any kids, r u married (not that it matters) and where are u from? I hope I'm not being to nosey. Hey Tenk how's everything going.

Well this is a little late. I was just browsing through here and saw that you responded. Sorry. How are things going? My cysts ended up delaying the cycle in January so I started Feb. 11th. tonight is my trigger shot but we have opted for an IUI this time because I only have four follicles and don't want to waste an IVF cycle. Insurance only covers 4. I am not putting too much hope into the IUI but just want to get started on next cycle. They told me there would be no wait but for IVF there was a period that I would need to take off. I think they will probably up my dosage so I will respond better follicle wise. It is really wierd because I got the same amount of follicles popping Clomid and didn' t have to poke myself with needles. So where are you at with your cycle? Are you doing IVF or IUI? I hope all is going well! Julie

Hello Tenk and Bahootie, well my cyst are gone I had surgery on the 13th of Feb the bcp didn't work so surgery was the next thing my check up apt. Is Feb 27 and my next cycle should start March 2nd which I will be taking 100mg clomid and follow up with IUI So while I'm waiting to get the baby making started the day after my surgery The Dr. Phil show came to my house to flim us for a show and I was in the bed recovering but that was fine because the show was about house wives that don't cook or clean (my DH does it he's great)so I just laid in the bed while they taped what he does all day and then last night we just got in from L.A. Hollywood taping the show a 3 day all expense paid trip and it was all in fun. Had a great time and now the 27th is only 5 days away so march should be my month.
