I confessm - I am the grandma. I am posting with permission of Mom and Dad though. They have gone to bed. Mom is having some lower belly aches. These are not digestive and they are not regular. They occur when she stands or stays standing for more than a minute or so. They are sharp and she describes them as below the belly button and on both sides. She's coming up on 23 weeks, she's about the size of a full term singleton mom. She is not overweight or anything. She's 29 years old and healthy. The have been coming and going for a week. She called the doc when they started. He told her to rest more, stay off her feet, etc. Any other advice? Should we be worried? Thanks in advance for any ideas, suggestions, advice.

I am at 33 weeks, and I have had almost constant lower abdomen stretching pains. It is actually one of the things my doctor told me very early on that women who are expecting twins complain about alot - that being lower stretching pains. Unless she is having dull aching or sharp pains (which may indicate preterm labor) I would not worry too much, remember, her belly is stretching much quicker than a singleton pregnncy. Of course though, if she is not sure about anything, don't be afraid to contact her doctor, thats what he is being paid for!
