Hey there. I am a 21 year old woman. I recently found out i was pregnant. If it wasn't for the missed period, & positive pregnancy test i wouldn't have known. My symptoms are minimal, I have mildly sore br___ts which comes and goes, I gag once in a while, i do not get nautious often, I am however exhausted and cannot sleep through the next. I went to an ultrasound when i was 8w4d pregnant. As the technician took forever to do my scan she finally turned to me and said, here is baby A and here is baby B. My jaw dropped. I knew i was pregnant and i had a 'hunch' it was twins, but i thought it not possible as i had practically no symptoms. I saw 2 babys, 2 sacs, 2 yolk sacs, and 2 heartbeats.. the most precious thing i have ever seen, yet i find myself worrying because of the fact i have no symptoms.

Dont be worried. All pregnancies are different. I have a 2 yr old and when I was prego with him I had absolutly NO symptoms (other then a belly) through out my entire pregnancy! I have irregular cycles so I didnt even know that I was prego until I was about 6 weeks along. Consider yourself lucky because some women ahev horrible m/s and all sorts of stuff. Enjoy being prego! Congrats!
There is a thread in this forum called "Pregnant with twins? Lets go through it together!" Check it out. There are several really nice ladies in there that are expecting twins and I am sure that they would love to talk to you! Take care.

I am 14w1d pregnant with twins. I was/am in the same situation as you. Earlier in the pregnancy I was SO worried because I had very very few symptoms and all I was reading online was that with twins the symptoms are double bad, etc. But I am this far along already and feeling great so nothing to worry about. How often will you be going for u/s? I go every other week and that helps to calm me a lot. As long as they are growing we are very lucky not to have too many symptoms :) Good luck!

Well I am not sure how often ill be going.. usually what they do is, u dont get one until you are 20 weeks here. but since i had miscarried last time, my dr wanted to set my mind at ease so she arranged for an u/s. I dont think i will be getting them that often... Maybe ill get one probably around the beginning of the 2ns trimester and maybe again at 20 weeks .. not sure. Do you have to go to a specialist for twins or did u stay with ur family dr?

I go to an OB/GYN who specializes in high risk and infertility as well as being an regular OB/GYN. You should really get them more because you are having twins......

terram - i had twin girls in 2003 and like ashley i had no symptoms other than a pos preg test. in fact i didn't know till 18.5 weeks at my u/s that it was twins. that is when i started measuring ahead, until then i measured right on the dot for my weeks. when i went for an appt at 18 weeks i measured 23 weeks so they got me in early for my u/s and it turned out to be twins. just enjoy the pregnancy for as long as you can without symptoms. i delivered early at 23 weeks but by then i measured 40 weeks and was very uncomfortable. you can buy a belly support band if your belly seems really heavy. good luck to you!

lisajanelle - Even though I am out of the scariness of the 1st trimester "vanishing twin" its always nice to hear from someone who went through what I am going through. I have calmed down a lot and am just enjoying being pregnant. It was such a struggle to get pregnant and now I just want to relish every moment and I am just lucky enough to be able to relish every moment without being sick :)
terram - How far along are you?

i am also nervous about vanishing twin syndrome. i wonder if it matters if you have seen 2 heartbeats or not. i am only 9 weeks.

I hate to be the downer but there is always a possibility of losing 1 twin. Although when you hear both heartbeats the chances do go down. I remember when I first found out it was twins my dr was very upfront with me, which I am so happy for. He said generally 12 weeks is the safe mark for twins, but he knew another dr whose wife was 17 weeks with twins and lost 1. You just have to look at it as even when you are pregnant with just 1 baby there are chances just the same of losing it when you are pregnant with 2 (does that make sense?) My "safe" feeling will come past 17 weeks I think, only because my dr had told me about that lady. You just have to have faith that everything is going to work out the way its meant to :)

lol no worries, i understand the risk of twins, its just that last year i miscarried at 14 weeks (technically i was 12 weeks) and at 10 weeks (really being 8 weeks) lol i lost all my symptoms and didnt "feel" pregnant and i never seen or heard a heart beat but thats because i had a blighted ovum, so there was a sac, and stuff, but no fetus developed. when i saw the 2 little babies this time on the u/s i was in awe and felt overjoyed because i was jus worried about seeing a heartbeat.

so i have been worried since i found out i was pg again then i saw the heartbeats and felt better but then new worries popped up of vanishing twin syndrome. i am trying to trust my body to do whats right. Last time i knew something was wrong i had a bad feeling from the beginning, this time i feel way better about it. but i knew something was up when at 4 weeks i could already feel my uterus. now at 9 weeks, i feel it even more. but somedays it feels bigger then others.i think it depends on if im bloated or not. but i always thought that if i was having twins, id be double sick and my dr agreed, but. ta da lol. i am barely nautious, and when i am its in the morning when i wake up and i get so hungry i feel sick. and ill eat and 5 min later im starving again. my friend had a set of identicle twins last year and she was sooooo sick. last time i was pg i was really sick everytime i ate and my b___sts hurt so much it felt like they were burning.but overall, my body is much healthier this time, i was going to the gym regularily, i quit caffeine and smoking.. with you being pg with twins do u see a specialist, or jus ur family dr? how many u/s do u get and how often?

I am sorry to hear about your m/cs. Like you said though you just have to trust your body will do whats right. I see a OB/GYN who also happens to specialize in infertility and high risk. I was seeing him as a regular OB/GYN a few years ago and then moved and switched drs. When my hubby and I were trying to get pregnant and it wasnt happening I went back to see him again for infertility. Now I am staying with him for the rest of my pregnancy/delivery. I see him and get a u/s every other week. Do you see a family dr or an OB/GYN?

I see a family dr. I got pregnant without any help from the drs. Although, its funny because it was a year since i m/c and We still hadn't gotten pg and i told my dr and she tested all my hormones and they all came back good and it said i ovulated and everthing and then i found out i had gotten pg while she was testing me, lol. I would have been like not even a week pg lol So it was ironic. I havent seen my dr since i had my u/s last week. So, I dont know what is going to happen when i go to see her on June 10th. So.. i dont know if i will being staying with her for this pg or what, but i guess i will see.

I have never heard of a family dr taking care of a pregnant women - thats what OB/GYNs are for. Where do you live? LOL that is ironic about being tested and you find out you are pregnant. That happened to my hubbys cousin - they were going to start trying to get pregnant and she was going in for some blood work and what do you know? She was already preggo. Funny how it works out like that sometimes :)
