Saw Two Sacs At 6 Weeks

no history of twins, totally in shock...went to dr. yesterday. He has an old sonograph in his office that he uses early on. He said before he started that at 6 weeks all we would see on his machine is a sac...and we both saw two! I am looking for someone with experience to just respond with your thoughts...we will go back in a couple of weeks to see where we are at...my pregnancy symptoms have been more intense than normal (have three other children)...anyway, just looking for responses from women who know SO much more than me!! Thanks in advance!

Congrats on your pregnancy! My twins were totally visible at 7wks, however that was with an internal u/s which offers a much closer picture of things. I personally have no idea if it's possible to see that much with a reg u/s so early on. But anything is possible! I can tell you that it's a myth when people say that with multiples your symptoms are stronger or more intence. The truth is that every woman & every pregnancy is different. There are many women on this forum who had worse symptoms with their singltons than their twins. Symptoms are not a good way of diagnosing anything. Good luck with your next u/s, I'm sure you'll see more.

thanks...nice to just talk to someone who is there...we aren't telling anyone about the pregnancy yet, let alone the possibility of twins! I am still reeling a little...but will try not to get too involved in any idea until the next scan...thanks for your response...feeling a little less alone!!!

Congratulatons i was 4 weeks pregnant when i found out i was having twins i was shocked too. And yes is so so so different than with my 1st pregnancy, well with me i felt everything so much sooner i was getting cravings at 4 weeks. Im only 15 and a half weeks now and they are moving everywhere, went to my doc. today and ask why they are moving so early and he said is normal and that they are developing well!!!! So good luck with everything

thanks so much...yes, angel this would be #s 4 & 5. I think if it is twins we will be done...nenny, how did you find out at 4 weeks? u/s? what did you see? right now I am kind of in denial, not wanting to get too used to either idea (having one vs. two) until we know for sure. Thanks again for your responses (and excitement)...

Hi Meg! I think you're one smart lady not to get hung up on the idea of twins vs singelton. Just enjoy your pregnancy & the fact that you're once again being blessed! When do you have your next u/s? You'll be able to see so much more than & finally know for sure how many babies are snuggling in their. Keep us posted!

hi i was hoping some one could help me, i had slight c___pming early in pregnancy ( around 4 weeks ) so was sent for a scan where they could not find any signs of pregnancy at all so did hcg test which came back double in 2 days so was sent for a scan at 5 weeks where they think they could see 2 sacs but the sonographer said at most he was looking at a 4week pregnancy and not to come back for 2 weeks, but my doctor phoned the next day saying that my hcg levels are to high and they should be able to see everything by now so went back in for a tran scan the next day and there still not sure if its 2 sacs or even if they are infact sacs at all but my hcg is doubling verry fast ! has anyone heard of this at all??? im worried sick at the moment

Meg - April 5

sparkle, regardless of where your hcg levels are, it is early on in pregnancy and time can do SO much...like i said in the beginning of this thread, at 6w5d all they saw was two sacs (granted it was an old machine) but two weeks later the babies and heartbeats were super clear...it sounds like you are definitely pregnant, so as much as you can, don't get too worked up about how many there are and let time tell...easy for me to say now that we are on the other side of that long waiting game...good luck!!!

meg, thanks for getting back to me its nice to know ur not alone, i was meant to get a phone call this week to get me back in again today for anouther tran scan but its only been 5days since last one and they havent phoned so i was going to wait till next week and phone them to say someone was meant to phone about a repeat scan then at least it will be over a week.

Hi I am sharing the same experience at 6 weeks we saw 1 sac with 2 embryos. I have a question: Did anyone ever here about Vanishing Twin Pregnancy?

onetwothree - April 6

Not only have I heard of VTS, I have experienced it with my first set of twins. Sadly, it is very common in the first trimester with twins. Studies show that 21-30% of multiple pregnancies in the US will end up with one lost to VTS and there is a 50% of VTS happening with a__sisted ovulation pregnancies. They are finding out that it is a lot more common than previously thought due to early u/s showing the sacs and VTS usually giving no signs that it has occured.

Anne4 - April 6

Is it more common when they see 2 bags or 2 embryos in 1 bag. Does this even matter? Is their any symptoms that can be an indication of VTS? tks for your answer.
