Is it true that if twins run in your family that it skips generations? Has anyone ever heard this theory?

fraternal twins run in the family on the mother's side, and yes, I have heard that they skip generations. identical twins are more "random".

the chances of having twins is higher if there is a history of twins in your family, but it doesn't necessarily skip a generation. You have a higher chance of having fraternal twins if you are one, have siblings that are, or parents that are.
