Twins High Hcg Level

Hailey, I would be more concerned with the numbers going down. This is probably why they have ordered the ultrasound. Unless you mistyped the last Beta level. If that is the case, I don't think your numbers would indicate a molar, but maybe a multiple Good Luck!

Hailey, I would likely think twins, your doubling time is 32.7 hours, so I really wouldn't worry {{{HUGS}}}

Linda- thanks for your response. I have been worrying myself sick. Is a doubling time of 32.7 o.k or is this too high too fast. I don't think I am having twins because I do not have any fam. history or have used fertility drugs. My dr's nurse seems quite concerned. She said this is unlikely a NORMAL pregnancy. (could be twins but most likely a molar preg). I have my U/S thursday so I will cross my fingers.

There are lots of woman who conceive twins without any family whatsoever so you might be having twins. Good luck!

hailey- your dr. told you that this is likely *not* a normal pregnancy?? WHAT?? Why would she say that just based off your HCG. Gosh, you have to be worried sick. Your numbers sound perfect to me. In fact, your HCG should double every 36 hours in the beginning, then 48 hours after a certain point and then only every 72 hours once they get up there. (But, you need to have an ultrasound also to base off of). My HCG at 13 dpo was 134, then at 15 dpo they were 370 (so tripled), then only 5 days later they were at 4467. Less than a week after that, they were over 40,000. Well, guess what... I am 19 weeks pregnant today with one healthy child. I've had 3 pregnancies in the past and the HCG only went up, not high like this and I lost all 3. So, going up high (for the most part) is better than not. hehe... Oh sus, I lost my right tube also. Unlikely that your ovary is going to release more than one egg because the other tube is gone. Your body doesn't "think" that way, lol... In fact your other ovary still spits out the egg regardless that the tube isn't there. My last pregnancy, I actually got pregnant from the egg being released from my left ovary. Somehow it found its way to my right tube. LOL... I couldn't believe it when they found that out on the anatomy ultrasound. Didn't really think it possible either, but they say that your tubes aren't connected to your ovaries, just real close, and they move all the time, so the good tube can suck the egg in if its close enough. Weird huh? Anyhow, just because you may not spit out more than one egg definitely doesn't mean it can't be twins. The one fertilized egg can split to make identical twins. So, you can have twins with only releasing one egg. Hope that helps. And Good luck on all you ladies with your coming up ultrasounds!!! Sure hope everything works out!! Don't worry just off your HCG, they vary so much!!! You should see something in the uterus once your HCG hits 2000. Good luck~!

Hi all, my hcg at 13dpo was at 54, at 16dpo it was 218, doubling appropriately. Then at 23 dpo it was at 10,020!! I suspected twins, but the nurse said just wait for the u/s. Well, I had my first u/s at 6w3d and there were two babies!! Two gest. sacs, two yolk sacs, two fetal poles and two heartbeats!! There was also a third sac, but nothing had ever developed in it, so they say it will just disappear. This was TOTALLY natural, and no twins on maternal side! Its very exciting!! Hope this helps with figuring out your own numbers.

Daniella - December 14

That is awesome Brooke!! Congrats!! :) How far are you now?? **See, there is hope that it isn't a molar. Yea, its natural to worry, but don't lose hope!!!

that is great brooke i hope to have a similar u/s next week at 6 weeks only...you are so fortunate...i hope things will go well and you end up with gorgeous babies.... do you mind telling me when you found out you were preg at what dpo and did you feel any symptoms...am 5 weeks 1 d and my symptoms seem to have started to fade and become quite mild...(so a tad bit worried here)...whereas a week and half ago they seems to get quite strong...my numbers are muhc higher thatn yours 10dpo=112 12 dpo=284..but i know one cannot depend on those to determine whether they are having multiples or not...would be interesting to know what yuor symptoms were and are and whether you are feelign them getting worse and all...

Yes girls, be positive! After reading so many posts about miscarriages and possible things that could go wrong, I started driving myself crazy and felt that I and my babies would be better off thinking positively! I followed Webmd's ovulation calculator and ttc exactly on the days that it told me. I went in for a yearly gyn. exam two days before af was due. I wasn't feeling anything. Just normal pms, but i always can tell when i ovulate and last month i felt the pain on both sides, but didn't think much of it. I had sore bbs, just like normal. When I found out I was + I kept poking at my bbs to see if they hurt more, no sickness, no tiredness, so I didn't really believe it. At 6 weeks according to MY calculations, I got into bed and didnt leave for three days, I was soooo tired. I am just now starting to get nauseous, but all day long and mostly at night, but never any vomiting. My bbs are sore, but not big, but I have already gained 7 lbs. in one month and had to buy maternity pants. They are so comfy!!! Anyway, I am 5ft 0" so I keep telling everyone i am going to be 5X5X5 by the time these babies are born. Seeing the heartbeats were surreal, I burst into tears, it was amazing seeing this little white pulsating dot and knowing there is a baby growing inside of you. Good luck to all of you can't wait to hear about your u/s

UPDATE: I had my ultrasound this am and they could not see a fetus but this did not mean that it was not there (It sometimes is too early to tell). She said my uterus measured 5 1/2 weeks. There was no indication of a molar pregnancy. I guess no news is good news except I'm worried that they did not see anything. Has anyone else been in the same situation.

yas2000 - December 15

yes...i did..at 4 weeks they couldn't see anything..they thought they saw a small black area whihc could be a gestational but they weren' sure..am booked in for a 6 week scan on tuesday....hope to see at least an embryo then....and hopefully a heartbeat...when is your next scan..would be interesting to know who you get on...

yas2000 - December 15

look this is another link i found which draws a graph for your hcg results....showing the low avarage and high levels as well..mine is above the high....so it may not mean anything as we know... but its fun to speculate..hahahahahah http://grunebaum.com/tools/hcg_calculator/

Hailey- it may be too early depending on the equipment. On my 5 week 6 day scan, we seen the fetal pole, yolk sac and heart flicker on the ultrasound. Just stress yourself at this early of a stage. Do you have another ultrasound scheduled for a week later? Each week makes such a huge difference. You should definitely see something in one week from now. Could you be off on your dates?

Hailey - December 15

daniella- I know when I ovulated because I use an ovulation kt. I have another ultrasound in 2 weeks. My Dr. said it is very rare to get a HB before 6 weeks. And a fetal pole is not usually seen until the hcg is 60,000. I am just hoping for the best and I do not want anymore bloodwork done. It is causing me too much stress and I can't do anything about it now anyway. We will see at my 7 week 3 day scan. Thanks for the comments. They help to ease my mind. Do you know if the would see a yolk sac with a molar pregnancy?

Hailey - December 15

i guess I forgot to write that they saw a gestational sac and a yolk sac that measured to be about 5 1/2 weeks. I am 5 weeks and 3 days.
