Twins And Ultra Sound

hi i'm 13 weeks pregnant with twins i was wondering when pregnant with twins do you get an ultra sound every month until your due date?

I didn't start having monthly ultrasounds until late in the second trimester. Early on I had one at 10 weeks, another at 13 for the nuchal translucency test and then I didn't have another until 21 weeks to find out the s_x of the babies. I have one every 3 weeks now to monitor the growth but that didn't start until about 25 weeks (I'm now almost 35 weeks). You might have more u/s if you have any complications or if your twins share a placenta and/or a sac. Mine are fraternal and completely seperate so they don't need to monitor quite as closely.

freebird how far along did they tell you your twins are fraternal? because when i have my 1st u/s at 9 weeks my doctor seen 2sec and the 2nd u/s at 10weeks and still only 2 sec but they never told me one placenta i read up online that iden/frat can share one placenta with 2 sec is there truth to that?

hey, im currently 28 weeks with identical twins who share the same sac and the one placenta and i usually get ultrasounds every 2-3 weeks to watch their growth.i think its only identical twins who can share a placenta, but this website should help. http://www.paternityangel.com/Preg_info_zone/Multiple/Multiple1.htm take out any dashes(-)

do anyone remember New England Journal of Medicine, doctors at the University of Washington in Seattle reported that a 48-year-old woman gave birth about two years ago to male and female twins nourished by the same placenta. Each baby had his or her own umbilical cord and amniotic sac.

7th - They speculated that they were fraternal early on because there were two seperate placentas/sacs. It was confirmed at 21 weeks when they saw boy/girl twins. Sometimes fraternal twins' placentas will fuse together, though I think it's kind of rare for that to happen. I know they always look for the membrane separating mine because the placentas are right next to each other. ID twins can share a placenta and/or sac or they can have their own depending on when the egg splits. When you have your next u/s ask if they share a placenta or not. They should look for that anyway.
