well just last week my fiancee and I went for our first midwife appt and she determined I was almost 9 weeks pregnant. she tried to find the heart beat for us and just our luck she found it!!! it was loud and clear!! beating at 180 bpm! she said we were lucky to be able to hear it this early. it never occured to me then to ask but is there a possiblity that maybe it was so loud because there are really two hearts beating in in-unicen? also is it true that girlshave a faster heart beat? thanks for all your input!!

I don't think that would be the case because the doppler only picks up the heart beat that it is pointing at. Also, it would be unlikely for the heart to be beating the exact rate like that. My twins never had the same heart rate. Also, there is no link what-so-ever to the speed of the baby's heart and the s_x. That is an old wive's tale. Congrats on your little one.

I have to agree with samehere. My dd's heartbeat was all over the map. One week I'd think 135, must be a boy, then the next it would be 147....I have a healthy baby girl, and that's all that matters to me. Congrats!

The nurse at the first ob's office I went to picked up the heartbeat of the singleton baby I'm carrying now at 9 weeks with the doppler. It was also 180. We found out 6 weeks later the baby is a boy! And definitely only one.
