Why Are You Taking Unprescribed Clomid

To yetanothertripletmom I absolutely couldn't have said it better myself. Absolutely right on target with your response!

Well, as many of you , I have made my opinion on this subject rather clear in the past. My twins were conceived after many years of trying & loses. We did IUI with ovarian hyperstimulation. My babies, through no fault of their own, are now at risk! I have been on bedrest off & on throughout this entire pregnancy & now at 26wks am in preterm labor! They only measure 1lb8oz & 1lb12oz. It is too soon for them to be born & I'm desperate to keep them in! I would never have chosen this for my children. I will never understand why other woman/couples put their own selfish desire for multiples before any thought of the health of those possible children!

Oh boy... seems like old times w/this age old debate. I wish all of you ladies who "are ready for the risks" or "have the room" could spend the day in the life of a triplet mom or quad mom. You have NO CLUE what you are asking for. Oh and as for those "willing to take the risks" you are risking the lives of these children you so desire - you can't get much more selfish than that.

I am new to this site and have also just started on my first cycle of clomid - prescribed due to short LP. Some of the comments on this thread have upet me a little and increased my fears of dangers of muliple pregnancy. Some of the comments are written in such a venomous way that I am actually shocked by them - e.g. the comments surrounding curiosity killed the cat. Mama-bean, I feel that you should have some responsibilty for this.

newbieclaire: This is an old debate. What you can't see is the huge postions of this thread that have been removed by the moderators. Sorry, I didn't save the archives on this one so I can't share them with you. The "curiosity" stuff was started by another poster, got out of hand, and we had all ( well, most of) the posts deleted due to their venom.

onetwothree - I read it because it was a subject relevant to me and you can't know something is going to upset you until you actual read and absorb it. It was not apparent to me that items were removed, so I did not know this. I just think that we should be supporting each other and not judging in such a malicious way. I came on here to get support and encouragement and I am not getting that from this experience. I was not telling people off I was telling you how it made me feel. I will take the advice you gave and not come on this site again - will get my (none judgemental) support from another site where there is less scaremongering and venom.

Actually...this is the right place, seeing as the original poster asked WHY WE WERE TAKING IT. And, I'm taking it unprescribed, because my doctor ( last year) wrote me the prescription for Clomid, and did no monitoring. Our insurance changed, and doesn't cover anything close to infertility, or anything that looks like infertility treatments. So, I order it from http://www.medsmex.com, and hope for the best. Please don't speak to me ( us) as if we're uneducated children, and you are the all knowing, intelligent adult. I'm doing exactly what I did last year, when it was prescribed, and if anything goes wrong, I'll certainly take the appropriate steps. Also, you might want to check the statistics on Clomid...it's not like we're shooting up with Gonal F, or something. Clomid gives you roughly a 10 % chance of twins ( which I'd be happy to have, but is certainly NOT the reason I'm using it), and an even lower risk for triplets or more. Yes,HOM's still happen, but it's very unusual. And there are many legal ways to obtain this drug....most of us, if not all of us, are buying it through online pharmacies who will prescribe it. It may not be as good as going to your doctor, getting twice weekly ultasounds ( at 250.00 + each time), etc...but it's what we've chosen to do. And even if you don't approve....I don't recall asking you for your opinion. I'm reasonably educated, I'm reasonably intelligent, and I don't require validation from strangers. Our child, or children, will be loved and well taken care of, as are our other children. I appreciate where you're coming from, and your concerns, and I appreciate the way MOST of you have chosen to communicate those concerns. I wish you all luck, a BFP, and a H&H pregnancy. Bobbie

babs6219 - I wouldn't have a problem with people taking Clomid unprescribed trying for a (only one) baby, but the first poster (Angela) had said she wanted "to kill 2 birds with one stone." Really poor choice of words, IMO. To WISH for twins is a wonderful dream. To PLAN for twins is a very selfish thing. One of my good friends is carrying around twins right now inside of her - and also a dead baby. She's 24 weeks along and has to continue to carry her dead son inside of her for another 10 weeks or so until the other two are born. How tragic! This could be anyone with multiples. Just remember that. It almost happened to me.

lotsofkids....thank you for your candor...I appreciate it, and am so very sorry for your friend....I truly hopes she gets some counseling, because most people couldn't come through that alright. I'm not sure I could. You're right, "killing two birds with one stone" is a very inappropriate phrase to use in this situation. However, I do understand it...especially from those of us who have been TTC for a while. And as a more complete answer...I have PCOS and don't ovulate very often. I have two children from my first marriage ( 11 and 13) and we very much want more children together. That's it...I don't ovulate, have insurance that doesn't cover infertility, ( but is awesome otherwise), and this is what I hope will allow us to complete our family. Again, thank you for your time and Baby dust to all! Bobbie

For me it is women taking uprescribed clomid though they have no fertility issues just so they can conceive twins. We have had women on here doing this behind their spouses back, to kill 2 birds with one stone and because they think twins would be neat............. babs6219 No one is telling anyone this isn't the right place to be. There are many people out there that are intelligent and educated that make stupid decisions every day. You didn't ask for an opinion but I don't even see a post where you got an opinion. This post is old and points to the women that are pretty much doing it to conceive twins. If you have fertility issues, that is a different story. I don't think you would be judged for that.

Also, I did want to let everyone know....onetwothree, you said" A lot of us do not support illegal drug use". I know a lot of people ( both online and in real life) who have used Clomid. It doesn't have to be illegal! You can order it and get a prescription for it, from many legal pharmacies online. And this may well be an old post, but it's still appropriate and being discussed.

onetwothree - May 4

This is off of the DEA Website. Buying controlled substances online without a valid prescription may be punishable by imprisonment under Federal law. Often drugs ordered from rogue websites come from foreign countries. It is a felony to import drugs into the United States and ship to a non-DEA registrant. Buying drugs online may not be only illegal, but dangerous. The American Medical a__sociation and state boards of medicine and pharmacy have all condemned the practice of cyber doctors issuing online prescriptions as unacceptable medical care. Drugs delivered by rogue websites may be the wrong drugs, adulterated or expired, the wrong dosage strength, or have no dosage directions or warnings. DEA is targeting rogue online pharmacies for prosecution and shutting down these illegal websites

babs6219 - May 4

Yes...I'm sure we all understand that importing this w/o a prescription is illegal. No-one ( that I've seen) argues with that. I'm not advocating it....what I'm saying is there are legal ways to procure the prescriptions. I've not broken the law ( I've asked an attorney...I can give you his name if you'd like), and my prescriptions have come from a legal, US pharmacy. And if, when not committing a crime, I make an educated choice to aquire my medications from a pharmacy....I certainly have the right to do that. However, I do thank you for the information. I'm sure there are people who weren't aware of that . And, getting a precription through a doc in a box (online) may not be the best choice, but when it's that or not be able to have a baby...I know my choice.

mama-beans - May 4

Just some info... these "prescriptions" one can get online are legal only in the country the prescription originates.. for example, mexformeds.com prescriptions would absolutely be legal... in Mexico. As soon as you order it and have it shipped to a US address, the prescription is no longer legal in the US and you have youself some "illegal" drugs on your hands. As a side note, if your doctor will prescribe Clomid because you NEED it, then paying for it fully out-of-pocket with a LEGAL prescription will set you back an average of $30 a month, no insurance coverage necessary. Just info for you.

babs6219 - May 4

And as a final FYI before I bid you all adieu, I have mentioned several times that there are several US pharmacies who will write you a prescription online. I wish you all good luck in your future endeavours, and I believe this will be my last post on this topic. As I've made my feelings clear, so have many of you, and I think we should all just agree to disagree. As always, thank you for yor input and baby dust to all!

Um... hi all... im from United Kingdom and seen this thread and thought it would be an answer to my prayer. I hope its okay to be here please? I realise there are some "tender & sensitve issues" going on. However id just like friendship and perhaps advice if possible please?. "CLOMID"...as i say im from UK...where can i get hold of Clomid please?. My story is this...im 45 mc late 21 days and have had SEVEN NEG tests and ive never been late like this b4!!! Had bloods taken on Wed and was told they would be back 2day, however now its gonna be Mon or Tues. In frustration i bought a stores own brand tester and it was neg so all in all that made it a horrid 7 negs. We are heartbroken i am currently using OVULEX? I came across this on Ebay and have 3 bottles of this. Ive heard this is rubbish and no use? Im still using this but i have heard there is succsess with CLOMID. Please can ANYONE advise? Your comments would be valued although please do not critisize me for asking about unprescribed clomid. We just want a chance to have a baby and its upsetting. Ive already had 4 kids to my former marriage. In a new marriage and my husband was found to have slow moving sperm, he has been taking herbal vits etc to make things better. Sorry this is soooo long and dragged out i promise nxt one wont be, i just wanted 2 give you the whole pic not just half. Thank you for listening to me Ladies and we wish you all the very best. Thanks.
