Additional Pregnancy Leave

I am 36 and in June 2008 I will be having my 3rd and LAST child...I am scheduled for a C-section because my last two were C-section, so I believe I am ent_tiled to a month before and 2 months after. I wanted more time to bond and take care of this one, is there any benefits (say under unemployment) that I could qualify for? I once knew a lady who took the whole twelve months of FMLA, and the job had to hold a position for her, not necessarily the one she left. Any comments?

FMLA only permits 12 WEEKS, not months, of leave (unpaid). Of course an employer can permit you more time. If you want to collect unemployment, you have to be able and willing to accept work. Depending on what state you are in, there may be other a__sistance programs. In California, you are ent_tled to pregnancy disability leave PLUS leave under CFRA (if you are eligible).

I live in the UK and we get 6 months (usually started about 4 weeks before edd) not fully paid but you still get the majority of your salary. And then a further 6 months (if you have worked with the same company for a certain time) that is cla__sed as unpaid but i believe that some of your salary is paid by government. My cousin is in her last months of AML and becuase if her and her husbands basic salary, she tells me that tax credits paid by the government have made up her wage to almost her full salary. I may be wrong and it may depend on the employer. I will be taking 12 months and i will receive almost my full wage the whole time both OML and AML..

I am a teacher in Texas and am expecting my baby at the end of Feb. I amm allowed only 12 weeks FMLA leave. The first 6 weeks b/c I have long term disabilty insurance will be paid at about 85% of my salary. The second 6 weeks is unpaid. I then will receive pay for the days of leave I have acc_mulated for this year which will pay me only $400 a month for Apr-July, and $600 for Aug. I am goign to be staying home from then on so once I turn in my resignation letter I will then owe about $200 for each month June-Aug. for my health insurance paid by the school district. If this baby is born before Feb. 26 I will have to go back to work to finish out the school year, which I am not happy about. But there is NO WAY (other than resigning and losing future pay) I can take off any more time than 12 weeks. I think this is an absolute travisty. Teachers work their a__ses off, and get so little compensation.
