What exactly do they do at your very first doctors appointment. I have not even met the doctor yet , so this is my very first. Don't be afraid to get into details.

You'll answer a bunch of questions about yours and your family's medical history. They will give you a date based on your LMP. If you don't know it or have irregular cycles they might offer an ultrasound for dating. You will pee in a cup, and they will do a few tests with it. They will draw some blood for various other tests, such as blood typing, RH factor, hcg & prog levels, etc., and check for certain diseases if you elect to have those tests done. You will have a pelvic exam & pap smear, and a check for chlamydia & gonorrhea while they are at it. Doctor will talk to you, ask if you have any questions, probably give you some literature to take home about pregnancy, and schedule your next appointment. This first appt will probably be the longest one you will have. Mine took over 2 hours. GL.
