hi girls, Kristine I hope all went well at the hospital...I actually spent most of my day at the hospital too...I hadn't felt Mackenzie really moving since the weekend and the past few days have been really quiet, so I called my dr's office not thinking much, but they told me to go to the hospital to get checked out...so now a stress test and u/s later...turns out my amnionic fluid on the low side...should be at the lowest 5 to 20 and I'm at 6.5 and she is breach...but it was so great to see her...she is practicing breathing...and she's got my husband's nose...I have to go back again on Friday to have another set of tests done to make sure the levels aren't going down...but it may be that I'll end up with a c section if there isn't enought fluid for her to turn....oh well...now i'm beat...I had a 7 am breakfast meeting 1/2 away, and tomorrow I have an 8:30 hearing an hour away...never a dull moment...hugs :-)

Oh my Cookie..... Makes me wonder about my own issues at the moment. I have been having some concerns lately myself --- I have my next obgyn appointment on the 26th and have so many things I want to tell the doctor. In the last 3 or 4 weeks I haven't been having as many kicks as I did previously --- but I do feel her throughout the day (mostly in the morning and evening)... just vibrations and some movement --- But it does make me a bit nervous to say the least. I am sure an u/s would relieve some of my stress. However, I haven't had an u/s since July so it has been a long while since I have been able to see anything. So I am really gonna give the doctor an ear full on Tuesday. My last appointment on August 28th the heartbeat was in the 130’s and it was usually in the 140 / 150 range which made me a little uncomfortable. The PA said she was probably sleeping. I have no idea… but the PA wasn’t too concerned since the HB was in range and sounded strong. I think I have been freaking out because after I declined the AFP testing I was never given the option of the Level 2 U/S. So I have felt that I am in Limbo and have no idea if my baby is healthy (normal). I have had this on my shoulders for awhile I guess, but have pushed it so far back that only this week it has been freaking me out. Sorry for venting but I needed to let off a little steam. COOKIE: Do you think I should go to the ER or try to bump my OB appointment up? I just don't know what to do.

Cookie - September 20

hey michele, I would definatly call your dr and voice your concerns...i'm glad that I did...at least I know what's going on...I hadn't had a u/s since week 18 so 10 weeks ago...so I feel your sentiment..go with your gut instinct you are your baby's best advocate...so if you think something needs to be checked out...then let them know....I didn't think it was a big deal but I guess my dr didn't want to take any chances....apparantly amnionic fluid levels change so on friday I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be up....

Just wanted to share --- I think this child is gonna make me a liar. Of course after all was said and typed... she was active all day yesterday. Can you believe it??? I swear I am gonna be a worry wart no matter what, but come on! I go to the Lab tomorrow for my GD test. Wish me luck.....

Cookie - September 21

lol, I hear you Michele, when I was all strapped in yesterday, Mackenzie didn't take to the monitor and kept kicking it...that was the most I had gotten from her in a few days..so I felt silly...but at least my concerns were founded with the lack of fluid, I go back tomorrow for a follow up stress test and us...and monday I have my dr's appt. with my glucouse test...good luck tomorrow, let us know how it goes!!!

NVgirl - September 22

Hi ya ladies... I did the GD test today. I drank the orange stuff. It tasted like orange soda.... not too bad. I got to the Lab at 7:40 am and there was like 10 people in line before me. I started to panic a little since I drank the glucose stuff at 6:50 am. But then DH saw a sign that said let the Lab personnel know right away if you are doing a glucose test. Within 5 minutes they drew my blood.... LOL, practically no waiting. I am sure that didn't make the other people happy who were waiting. And the tech was very good. Didn't hurt... so there was no fainting involved at all like back in April when the OB's nurse hurt my arm and wouldn't let me lie down. COOKIE; let me know how your stress test appointment goes today. Hope all is well with you Kristine. Tomorrow is my Baby Shower.... will let you know how that goes. Ciao for now.

HAVE A WONDERFUL BABY SHOWER MICHELLE!!!!!! :-) Cookie, How did you make out?

Cookie - September 22

hi girls, well today's visit went great...the tech in triage was very suprised by Mackenzie's hb...she was still being shrimp and moving all around but the tech stayed with me to catch it all b/c her heart has accelerations...the tech asked me if I was sure about my dates..(which is funny b/c my dr. had first dated us a week later than lmp b/c of out 6.5 w u/s)...apparantly accelarations are not seen in baby's this young, it happens when the brain stem matures closer to birth...she said it was a fantastic sign, and was amazed that Mackenzie could do it so young...at the u/s Mackenzie was getting annoyed with the tech and kept kicking at the u/s machine...and wouldn't show us her breathing, which she was practicing on wednesday (apparantly that is something she is really too young to be doing too)...we did see a perfect shot of the bottom of her foot and all it's toes...and saw her sucking on her hand...and she's got lots of hair...literally floating behind her..lol..(explains the heart burn I guess)...my fluid's are up to 10 which is still low but better than wednesday, so I just have to make sure I keep my fluid intake up...Monday I have my regular appt. so i'm sure i'll get more details then...have fun tomorrow Michele, and Krisitine how are you feeling? Your in your 2nd trimester!!! YEAH!!!!

Kristine - September 25

I'm feeling good. The pee problem only seems to occur at night. Maybe it's the way I am sleeping. Doc called and said there's a very small amount of bacteria but does not need any antibiotics.,,,,Let us know how you make out today. Good luck!

hiya, well dr visit went well...(and they are always so quick)...i've gained 20 pounds so far at 28 1/2 w...baby was measuring 27 1/2 w.....but I think that may be due to the lack of amnio...dr didn't seem to worried about it...the glucose drink tasted like flat sunkist...and got me a little woozy...not fun on an empty stomach...all in all good visit...dr, doesn't start the bi weekly visits until after 32 weeks...so another month till the next visit...we confirmed out prenatal cla__ses which are three consecutive tuesdays at our hospital starting Oct. 24th...I can't belive all this stuff is coming up so soon...we've got to get crackin on Mack's room...it all storage at the moment...how are you ladies doing?

Hi girls --- I have some bad news... my doctors appointment totally made me cry today. The doctor said I failed my Glucose test by 8 points. An now I have to take the 3-hour diabetes test to determine if I have gestational diabetes some time this week and she was stern with me that I have gained 30 pounds. Mind you she said I didn't gain anything in the last 4-weeks. Which she was happy with --- but said 30 pounds is all that she wanted me to gain total... and I have 11 more weeks to go. She gave me a pamplet on Diabetes and Pregnancy and Nutrition during pregnancy to take home. I am just a ball of nerves at the moment. But wanted to share what was going on. I have another appointment in 2-weeks on October 10th. Will most likely take the 3-hour GD test on Thursday since I have stuff to do on Friday. This just sucks... if it comes out that I have Diabetes then there is a good chance of me having it after pregnancy too. And that is very scary to me. Anyhow, I need to go lay down and mull this over.

Cookie - September 26

oh michelle, so sorry to hear about the glucouse test...I thought that once the baby was born that the diabetes goes away? Is yours something different?

Kristine - September 26

Michelle, Were you overweight before you got pregnant? Did doc tell you from the beginning how much they wanted you to gain? I consider myself 20 pounds overweight when I got pregnant this time around. Doc has not discussed weight with me. I will definitely ask her at my next visit. My friend had GD for her pregnancy but was fine afterwards. Try to take this day by day until you know for sure. I started a prenatal fitness cla__s last week (2x a week) but I don't think it's going to help my figure at this point.

NVgirl - September 26

KRISTINE: I am 5'3" and was 160 when I got pregnant. My mom has diabetes and so does her sisters. My mom's younger sister is 53 now, but when she was pregnant at the age of 34 (I am 33) she had gestational diabetes and developed adult diabetes about 3 or 4 years ago right before she turned 50. So that is very scary to me.... from what the pamphlet says that it can go away once the baby is born or it may not it is a 50/50 chance. I am just so nervous because it says that I would be considered High Risk and that there are all kinds of problems that can occur such as undetected UTI's, Macrosomia (very large baby) or even stillbirth.... so that scares me. AGH! I just don't know what to do other than start by no longer eating carbs and try to start exercising. I am sooo tired at the moment from worrying that I need a nap and everything I eat lately has upset my stomach to were I don’t know what to eat any more. So I have a tummy ache with nerves going on all at once. And then on top of that The doctor wants me to monitor my kicks every hour…. But have to be completely relaxed. AGH!!! So much going on.

Cookie - September 27

hi Michelle, I don't think cutting carbs alone is what you need to do, its more important to watch your sugar intake (and that includes fruits, and juices)...eating a sensible diet high in fiber and veggies, with lean proteins will keep you full longer and even out your blood sugar levels...during my pregnancy I've pretty much stuck to that during the week and allowed myself treats on the weekends...a great place to start for breakfast are the Kashi products, the cereals and the oatmeal, very little sugar, high fiber and protein...for lunch have a salad with beans, and protein, then dinner have veggies (but stay away from corn its sugary) and lean protiens like grilled chicken, even a baked potato once in a while, or brown rice...if your really craving something sweet, go for the sugar free jello products that have splenda in them...they make yummy chocolate kinds (that's generally how I get my fix during the week)..if you regulate now, i'm sure your baby will be fine...all those "bigger" problems occur if you continue as is...unchecked..but your on top of it now...if you haven't really been exercising just becareful with what you start now, b/c we are in our final trimester we need to take it easier and not start super training...I'm suprised your dr wants you to check kick counts each hour...that seems so time consuming...don't stress your only going to make yourself sick...just come here to vent :-)) big hugs!!!!!

Kristine - October 2

Good morning ladies, I had my first family gathering yesterday with those I don't see often. It was nice for them to congratulate me and pat my belly. It is still hard to accept that I've come this far. The nice thing is my cousin's wife is 7 weeks ahead of me and we've gotten closer so I have someone in the family to go through this with. It just seems like ym due date is so far away.
