I have a question for the board. Two weeks ago I experienced what I thought was my period. It lasted for about 4 days and was bright red at first and kinda heavy. At the end of the 4th day the blood was a sticky brown color. I took two pregnancy tests on Wednesday, August 2nd and they were both positive. I went to the Doctor today and she gave me an ultasound. She saw what she"thinks" is a sac but she is not 100% sure. She "thinks" I am around 5 weeks pregnant. I also had blood work done and will not know the results until tomorrow or a few days (as they are backed up). Why doen't my doctor know for sure?? This is very frustrating for me. I really would like to know if I am indeed pregnant. Had anyone else experienced these signs and not been pregnant? My husband and I have been trying for 2 years. I guess I am fearful because I miscarried the first time i became pregnant. Thanks for reading my post and good luck to all!!

Nicole, maybe what you experience was implantation bleeding. If you took 2 test and they were positive, chances are you are pregnant. 5 weeks is really early yet, so it would have been possible to see a sac, but that would be it....it would still be too early for a heartbeat. Wait and get your blood results back and I'm sure depending on those, your doctor will probably do another u/s in a week or so. Good luck to you!!

Well, everyone is different but with my son I did have implantation bleeding. I remember it was a monday and I thought I was starting my cycle. It was very light and pinkish brown. It only last 1 day. I thought it was very strange. We had been trying to get pregnant for 2 years. My cycles are usually heavy and long. So when it disappreared I was confused. On saturday I decided to take a test and it was positive :) We were sooooo happy. My son just turned one years old last week. Now we are trying for another baby and its happening again. I had very light spotting that disappeared. I hope it turns out the same way it did last time!

Hi everyone... New to this... I am 28 and have 5 beautiful kids. I got my tubes tied and now 18 months later I am somehow pregnant. lol.. I got a positive test and then started bleeding in the middle of the night.. Went to the ER and they did a blood work up and then did a pelvic exam and said my cervics was still closed and hard. then got 2 ultrasounds and they saw a shadow in the bottom of my uterus.. So they said I am bleeding because the baby is trying to implant at the bottom of my uterus so I have to have another blood test done in 2 days and I am on bed rest... so I am afraid of having a micarriage.... So what is all this about??? Anyone with some answers...

hey, i was wondering if someone would be kind enough to give me some advice or point of view. my last period was july 11th and due on august 11th. at 6 days late i took a preg test and it came back positive, i repeated another test the next day and this also came back positive. the next day i experienced brown spotting for about 4 days then it stopped, and around 2 days later i experienced heavy bleeding like a period yet this only lasted for an hour. i called my doctor and she said as long as it stops its fine, if it doesnt she'd arrange a scan for me. as i said this stopped after an hour, which was a relief, and everything was fine for a few days. but today ive been experiencing the brown spotting again, is this normal? i should be 7 weeks preg on tuesday, does implantation bleeding last this long? any info u can provide would be a great help :) thanks.

i should also mention, the day after i experienced the heavy bleeding, i took another pregnany test late in the afternoon, and it still said positive.

only me again, lol, sorry about all the posts, obviously im a little worried. ive been doing some research online and found an article on cnn.com which says "Many women have spotting or bleeding in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. In most cases, women who experience light bleeding in the first trimester go on to have normal, successful pregnancies. There are no hard and fast rules about what amount of bleeding — or which additional signs or symptoms — indicate that there is a problem." so this has put my mind at rest a lot :) i should also mention, i havent experienced any cramps or clots, and the spotting which im getting is very small amounts. ill keep an eye on it, but i would still appreciate any feedback. thanks.

liz, implantation bleeding does not last that long....implantation occurs anywhere from 6 - 12 days before you can even have a positive hpt.....just because you took a test that said positive the day after you were bleeding, doesn't confirm that you are still pregnant. Even afer a m/c, you can get a positive reading for weeks until all the hormones are out of your body.....If I were you, I would demand a scan from the doctor to confirm that you are still pregnant, or at least have them check your hcg levels every 3 days to make sure they are rising properly. Yes, bleeding does occur in the first trimester, but when it is more than spotting, normally doctors want to check further into it to see why you are bleeding. Bleeding can also be a sign of a tubal/eptopic pregnancy, so I would tell your doctor you want it checked into further.

I had tube preg in Feb and this month just 10 days after ovulation, i found spot red and the test is very faint positive--the same situation as the last tube preg. I think i am having another one, but not implantation bleeding. soooo sad.

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for a month now. On saturday I noticed a little bit of blood (it had been dried, so it was a dark red). It wasnt enough to make me think it was a period...it was very small. I am supposed to start my period at the end of this week or the beginning of next week. Could it be implantation bleeding? There hasnt been any more bleeding since then. This is the first time of trying to get pregnant, so I am not sure what to expect. Any help would be much appreciated! :)

implantation occurs when the egg implants inself in the uterus, about 6-12 days after ovulation. its normaly lighter and last anywhere from 2 to 4 days. You can take a preg test 8 days past ovulation but its best to wait a few days more for a better result. when is your next af due?

Rosiegirl - August 29

my next af is expected around September 9th. However, in June & July my af came on the 1st and the 3rd. So I am not sure when I ovulated. The bleeding only lasted one day on Saturday. So that kinda confuses me. It was just one little spot. I have never had that happen before. Could I have ovulated early? An ovulation calender told me that I would start being fertile on the 28th (if I had a 37 day cycle). If I had a 31 day cycle (which I was for a while before August) then I would have ovulated the 22nd. So that kinda throws me off too. I am not sure when I ovulated. Thanks for the help.

tyler0323 - August 29

ovulation can really occur anytime, if your period comes early its because you ovulated early, or same with being late. The bleeding could have been implantation, but wait untill the 9th or 10th untill you test, just so you can have and accurate result, if it comes out neg, and still no af, wait another day or two.

Rosiegirl - August 29

So it is possible that I could have ovulated early, since my periods have not been regular? What are other things that may have caused the bleeding? Is there any reason that I should worry at this point?
