dontwannabeme17, i know what you are going through. i am an emetophobe also. i havent vomited in 18 years...not because i havent had to, just because i wont, im sure you know what i mean....my husband wants to have a baby and i have finally agreed, fear of vomiting has always kept me from it. this is the advice i have been given by 2 other emetophobes: 1. morning sickness feels just like any other sickness...by that i mean, if you had the flu and felt like you were going to puke but laid down and let it pa__s...thats what it feels like, no different. 2. the few times they felt sick (one is on her 4th kid and the other is pregnant now w/her first) they laid down and let it pa__s, and it always did as for seabands, they work by pressing an acupuncture point in your wrist, they cant hurt. and i had to laugh at the phenergan part cause i have a prescription for compazine at all times :) bottom line is, if we have mad it this far, im thinking we'll be fine. i am so sure of it that at 33, after all these years of swearing i could never do it out of fear...we are going to start trying to get pregnant this june . if you were a person who just simply didnt LIKE vomiting but did it when necessary i would think you would do so, but every other emetophobe i know has told me they control it just as they would any other time they felt the need to throw up. i hope this helps...i feel your pain :)

I only had morning sickness for around 3 weeks but did not vomit at all. I just felt queasy.

I'm 24w and haven't thrown up once while pregnant. I felt queasy early on, but found that eating crackers and ham sandwiches helped a LOT.

With me i didnt really have morning sickness. what it was with me was smells, it seemed EVERYTHING had a smell. in my pantry i had bananas and like cardboard, the smell was overwhelming, and trying to NOT breathe it in made me get sick once because I gagged myself. but otherwise i never got sick. i lived off of saltine crackers and 7up and it totally helped.

thanks for asking this question, and thanks for everyone's responses. I wondered about the sea band, now that I know it works, I plan to try it out.

I suffer horribly with all day sickness. I did try Phenegran as a suppository, but I found that all it did was put me to sleep. I couldn't function otherwise. After ending up in the ER with dehydration the dr finally prescribed Zofran. This has thus far been a life saver. GL

wow, i had a fear of vomiting also, but once you get morning sickness you will get over that real quick, i was so miserable for like 3 months, it became a routine thing for me, i found a trick though, if nothing helps i tried not to eat anything spicy and dont stuff yourself either, try not to eat for a couple hours before you go to bed and then in the morning i would take some water to the bathroom with me and i would chug (or sip depending on how i was feeling) it and when i felt the sickness coming on i would just throw up the water, trust me its much better than throwing up pure stomach acid and not as gross as throwing up half digested food thats been sitting your stomach all night, im 26 weeks now and it still hits me a little bit in the morning sometimes but it has pretty mush subsided, good luck to you

i forgot to add that sometimes laying down doesnt always help, i tried it and when i would stand up it would come right back, it was an all day thing for me, sometimes it is just something you have to deal with, i was PETRIFIED of throwing up, before i got pregnant i hadnt thrown up since i was 10 or 11 years old, if you fight it you can end up feeling worse, seriously try the water thing it will help you feel better right away, and always have a little something with you to snack on when you start to feel sick or hungry

I had horrible nausea thru all 3 of my pregnancies, this 3rd one right now the nausea lasted until I was about 16 weeks. I eventually hadto get a prescription from my Dr. which I didn't take for very long anyway beacause the pills made my soo sleepy and gave me horrible headaches, I couldn't keep my eyes open past 7pm, so I stopped. I 'd rather feel nausea then havethose headaches. Anyhow, I guess every pregnancy is different and each individual as well. I thikn the big thing for me was I wasn't getting enough iron, but at the same time the iron in my prenantals made me sick. So glad hat's over with now, only 9 weeks left to go!!
