Folic acid. If you're overweight, try to get to a healthy weight cus I went WAY over my weight limit when I was pg and I was a rail to start with. That's about it.

Just to add to Heidi's response, try to start eating healthy if you aren't already, too. At least keep it up through pregnancy but if you can, a healthy eating habit is great to maintain when you have kids following your examples.

Take those prenatal vitamins!! It increases your chances of having a healthy child. If you can, exercise...I found yoga before, during and after to be so benefical both to my health, for the birth and helped a lot with shedding pounds after. It keeps your mucsles toned. Good Luck!

Definitely get on folic acid. It is good to have it already in your system BEFORE you get pregnant. Take multivitamins as well. If you have weight to lose, lose it. If you have weight to gain, gain it. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables. Basically, do what we should all do pregnant or not! :) Like Mommy said, it is good to develop good eating habits that you will want your children to have. Yoga is very very good excercise. Start with beginners yoga. Green tea is excellent! Eat foods with Omega 3s, like fish, although consult your doctor on fish consumption once you conceive. Raspberry tea is also beneficial before and after you conceive. You can find it in any supermarket. Just live a healthy lifestyle in general. Get regular sleep, eat a lot of fiber as well. I read (I don't know if this is true or not) that it is important for couples trying to conceive to sleep in total darkness. Don't use nightlights, or the television. I read that when you sleep, hormones are hard at work regulating themselves and that light prevents them from doing so!
